In what way will Gus' foreign bank account become relevant?

really hate that Ted's alive. Other than that, episode was fantastic. Gonna be a long week.

For some time, I've been thinking that an appropriate way for the show to end would be for Walt to completely self-destroy both figuratively and literally. Throughout Walt's transformation, the essence of who he was (in the pilot) has been changed or destroyed, like his wife's love.

I imagine he could reach a point where his overzealousness will cause him to be careless, like say in the lab, and forcefully turning the dial full power, so to speak, will be the death of him.

Walt's used his Nobel Prize-winning chemistry knowledge to solve real life problems and get him out of trouble. His meticulousness in the lab has been one of his strongest traits. But if he doesn't keep his already bloated ego in check he could also lose that part of himself and possibly go the way of Sir Humphry Davy or Louis Slotin.

And walts blank stare response

I thought it was a rather underwhelming episode. At least compared to season 4...

I thought Box Cutter was much better but this was still excellent.

"Keys, scum-bag. It's the universal symbol for keys."

"You know how they say "it's been a pleasure"... well it hasn't"

"And what are you gonna do? Go put on your black leotard and go dangling on a clothes line..."

Mike confirmed the greatest.

Loved that Ted was still alive and that he was a broken terrified man. PLEASE SKYLER DON'T HURT ME!

I think he was more afraid of how Mike would react to that. How long before Mike doesn't care if his bullet has to go through Jesse to hit Walt?

No.

I mean this was good, but Box Cutter was amazing.

lol and Walt has like negative self-awareness at this point. "Because I say so" and the lolwtfbbq "I forgive you"

As someone on the Slate tv blog pointed out, between the bacon spelling out his "birthday" and the $100 tip, it sure seemed like Walt wanted to be remembered by that waitress for whatever reason. Between it being his real birthday or his "birthday" listed on the fake ID - if the fake birthday is in fact different from his real DOB - I think it could go either way.

I would add that 1 year is a looong time in the BB universe, since all four seasons thus far have only covered about 1 year of Walt's life. So for that to have been Walt's real 52nd birthday, time would have to start moving much faster on the show. That is certainly possible of course.

yet again, questionable cinematic choices in a breaking bad finale leading to conspiracy theories

Yeah, given that, i wouldn't be surprised if we catch up to this scene in the second half of the final season, not as a crescendo to the first half. There is still a tremendous amount of stuff that can happen in the first 8 episodes that send him on the run, and have the last 8 deal with his fleeing. A year is a long time in this show and with how fragile Walt's ecosystem right now.

First time watching week to week. All i wanted to do was go to the next episode....damn this is gonna be hard!

Comparing the premiere of season 4 to 5 isn't really fair because the finale of season 3 was much more of a cliffhanger than the finale of season 4.

didn't love the premier. as stated above, it was essentially a caper (like something you'd see on TNT's leverage.) plotting felt rushed with little time for character development (excepting walt becoming more confident and skyler becoming more evil). for example the huge conflict between mike and walt is quickly - if temporarily - resolved so that the characters can get their mayhem on. i would call this fanservice, but not sure fans really wanted to see walt go crazy with magnets.

opening teaser scene was intriguing, but we probably won't get answers to any of the questions it raises before the end of the half season.

Apparently the only area code in NH is 603. I kind of want to call 603-327-2153.

but nahh, angle is from Gus's Volvo.

______________

Ted being alive obviously is going to come back to bite Walt/Skyler. 0% chance of Ted being alive just so Ted can be alive, it has to serve as some sort of plot purpose.
