I actually just started watching Breaking Bad over the Summer (and because I have Dish) I just now got to this episode and I marked out when I saw the Schticky commercial!

Can't wait for the mid-season finale next week! Been an amazing show, I'm already planning on going back and rewatching every episode before the last 8 episodes!

Can we all just agree not to ever put spoilers in here prior to an episode? I will light a neighborhood cat on fire if the finale gets spoiled.

Is it possible to root for Hank and Jesse?

Yep. Cause I'd do the same. But not the cat. The actual neighborhood.

That's what I'd like but I just have this feeling in my gut that Jesse isn't getting out of this without being in a prison cell or body bag

Just wrapped up the Breaking Bad series last night. During the first few seasons I wasn't sure if I liked it or not. Just some of the story and characters seemed so ****ing stupid. Jessie's friends for example, even Jessie. I didn't know how Jessie could make it through the first 3 seasons without being killed off, and he should of been. Same with his friends, those dudes shoulda caught bullets right off the bat. Maybe if they casted different guys I'd think differently. Wasn't until the end of season 4 and season 5 that things started to get good imo. Hank letting his wife in the mix and allowing her to boss him around was pretty f'in stupid too.

Did you just suggest somebody other than Aaron Paul should have played Jessie?

Are you out your got damn mind?

Also, I think Matt Jones' Badger was really really well cast.

I don't have a problem with the actor who played Jessie. But those other 2 boneheads..........
03-28-2013 , 08:56 AM
ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT BADGER?!?!?!?!?! THAT IS WORSE
03-28-2013 , 09:10 AM
Jesse would have been killed off if Walt hadn't saved his ass, and vice versa. They are both self destructible but in very different ways.

But remember before Gus Jesse and Walt remained very low level players, if they would ever have been a high priority target they would have died instantly, but they simply weren't. But by the time they became high priority targets they were involved with Gus.

That was kind of the point. They all start off as a bunch of idiots however jessie is able to adapt and learn (largely due to walts mentorship) and he rises up while badger and skinny pete are left doing menial tasks and asking for work.

ARGHHHH Stop calling him Jessie, that is my sister's name, lol.

90% of drug dealers are total fvcking idiots, they are usually not educated and have awful reasoning skills. My friends dealer would come skretching around the corner of his neighborhood and haul ass up his driveway and park at an angle, drawing nothing but unwanted attention. That is your average dealer, just real dipshts.

Also, if it took you to S4 of Breaking Bad to start liking it then I don't know what to tell you.

I can't even describe how strongly I disagree with the idea that Jesse and friends are poorly cast. I think one of the show's best aspects is that every single character is memorable, and the reason that's the case is they're all so perfectly cast and realised.
03-28-2013 , 12:04 PM
This isn't even debatable.

Jessie was originally intended to be killed during the first season.
But he was too awesome.

Quote:
Gilligan originally intended for Aaron Paul's character, Jesse Pinkman, to be killed at the end of Breaking Bad's first season. Originally, Gilligan wanted Jesse to die in a botched drug deal as a plot device to plague the main protagonist Walter White with guilt. However, Gilligan said by the second episode of the season, he was so impressed with Paul's performance that "it became pretty clear early on that would be a huge, colossal mistake, to kill off Jesse"
