****ing amazing episode, just so much great dialogue. I loved Walt and Skyler one-upping each other about how they would manipulate the situation to keep the kids, and the dinner/pool scene was fantastic too.

Little surprised by how much of this part of the season is about how to get precursor and get the business going again, but I guess they're doing a lot of character stuff right now and saving the carnage for the last eight episodes. I can live with that.

It wasn't about costing him money. Gus liked Jesse and wanted to keep him around. Since the beginning of the show, Jesse has pretty much done what Walt has told him to do. He called Jesse and told him that Mike was going to kill Walt if he didn't go and kill Gale immediately. I'm not saying that Jesse isn't despicable, I'm just saying it wasn't only because Gale could put him out of work. In fact, Gale and Jesse probably would have worked together if Walt was offed. Just sayin'.

Right - so she should've engineered a solution that would've solved what she sees as the problem permanently while not getting into a conflict with her husband.

Lydia must've gotten them a barrel before, right? Do we know how much one of those yields? They wouldn't have finished that one yet, would they? The time frame from last weeks to this weeks seems almost immediately after and not weeks after since the $20k that Walt gave Skyler was just one batches worth.

A bit nitty, but I'm wondering how all of this lines up time wise.

I was in a really giggly mood today and this really had me going...

Such a brilliant episode. Haven't seen anyone mention Lydia - great character in my opinion. Seems very unstable and volatile. Works really well because she's the antithesis of Mike.

Does anyone have a link to the flash forward to future Walt?

I was so uncomfortable during the dinner scene, which is a testament to how great this show is.

I'm a bit confused by Jesse's behavior at this point. He's given Walt at least three or four looks that suggest that he doesn't like/very uncomfortable with Heisenbergs 'because I say so' attitude and in the latest episode it's like nothing has happened.

She got them the barrel through the factory foreman - they cooked at least twice since then, and in higher quantities than they typically did when they had the RV. It wouldn't surprise me if they are out, or at least running low.

It would be GOAT moment of GOAT show if it is revealed that Jesse and Mike have been playing Walt from finding the cigarette forward.

That barrel they stole in season 2 yielded what they initially sold to Gus, minus a few mishaps while they tried to do it all on their own. That was maybe 40-45lbs out of that barrel, right? 38 to Gus and the rest for their earlier attempts?

Sounds pretty good.

Not so sure on this. It wouldn't really make much sense. Mike was ready just to pack up and leave at the start of the series, and he advised Jesse to do the same. Don't really buy that Mike stayed just to take down Walt.

Also Mike wouldn't need an elaborate plot to take out Walt. He had a gun trained on him from close range and had a clear shot if he wanted it.

This weird floss shot reminded me of something completely different. The intro from Dexter. dunno if that is just a nifty haha or a coincidence but i don't think much of it otherwise.

I'm baffled that you guys disagree and yet are both so wrong, in our own unique ways, about what actually happened in the show.

What I love above all about this show is that for all the foreshadowing (and even flash forwards), I have no idea exactly what's going to happen. So many shows, by this point, have a pretty predictable story arc. But in Breaking Bad they've developed complex characters that are going to defy formulaic expectations when the story comes to a climax, because they all have conflicting motivations.

Hank is the DEA super cop who's willing to suspect anyone, and he's also extremely devoted to his extended family. Skyler is the compromised cooperator, but she insists on protecting her children from Walt; she's also progressed from willing cooperator to being terrified and trapped very quickly. Jesse has gone from being ready to murder Walt (for something that Walt actually did) to at least seeming to be his devoted servant, but he shows flashes of disagreement and questioning. Mike is split between his professional instincts (to just cut ties and escape) and his desire to preserve ties with his granddaughter--I also think he wants to protect Jesse.

Even Walt Jr. and Marie are a little more complex than the typical supporting characters, and even in their case, I don't think it's certain what they're going to do when Walt's involvement with meth is finally revealed. Everything depends upon what is revealed first, and to whom. When will Jesse find out about Walt poisoning Brock? When will Hank and Marie discover what Walt has been doing, and will they find out about the murders right away? In the short term, what's going to happen with Skyler?

I was worried in the first couple of episodes of this season that they were moving too fast, too artificially, and they weren't going to be able to replicate the tension that dominated season four. In this episode, they did an amazing job of ratcheting up the pressure within Walt's family, which I think is just brilliant.

So are we supposed to believe that Mike's theory about Lydia is correct?

Cutting himself shaving also was just like the Dexter intro.

Good episode, not much happened but the few scenes were great. Great scenes with Skyler, loved the pool scene, i was somehow hypnotised by that blue glow of the water, it was awesome.

Jesse working with the police, and he put a bug in the watch one time ?
