Watch BB a 2nd time. IME watching BB the 2nd time is better than watching any other show for the 1st time.

I'm only 5 episodes into the rewatch but starting to see this already.

Really enjoyed the "intervention" scene with the talking pillow, I never appreciated quite how powerful but also funny that scene is.

To elaborate, BB was the first TV show I ever watched...literally. But I got hooked on it, and since it ended I've really gotten into other shows, like Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, The Killing, House of Cards, etc. Nothing really compares to Breaking Bad, but there are a lot of other excellent shows out there.

Literally? What an amazing, serendipitous choice.

I had no reason to watch TV in high school when BB came out. I was very active and busy all the time. I watched the first episode on a whim and now that I have more free time that means plenty more time for other TV shows.

What really adds to the drama and tension of that scene is the grandfather clock tick tocking in the background. One of my favourite scenes in the show.

Going through my 5th rewatch and I'm picking up on some new stuff. Going full out Rain Man here. In S2. Notice Jane's Popsicle.

Now like 5 seconds later, it's a full Popsicle.

S3E6 - Walt calls Jesse to warn him that Hank is watching his house. Jesse's cell phone is on a table making that violent vibrating on hard surface sound. After Jesse picks up the phone it is still making that sound.

Thinking back on the BB finale it was pretty forgettable. Couple cool touches (fake snipers on Elliot and Gretchen) and machine gun mounted on garage door opener but the execution of the final battle with the Nazis felt rushed. BB is a slow burn show. Everything in the world of the show steadily escalates with some awesome moments along the way. With that I thought they did a great job of pulling Walt away from his cold weather hideout and giving him a strong purpose for going back for a badass suicide mission. The problem is that it never culminates in a satisfying way. The explosion at the end of the slow burn isn't that big. I remember watching the Granite State with friends and literally cheering when the SWAT team is closing in on the bar Walt's sitting in, theme song playing in the background, and they pan over to a half-drank glass of whiskey and an empty chair. "Oh **** Walts gonna go on a tear"

But it never really comes and I think the reason is because his final mission was too easy. When they took the keys away I was like oh **** how's he gonna outwit these Nazis and get those keys back. Then he immediately walks over and grabs the keys and the suspense is gone.

Also LOL at the Badfinger song at the end. So corny. Maybe my criticism is unfair but I hold this show to a much higher standard given how effing awesome the S03 and S04 finales were.

The finale was great. It's one of the few high profile shows that really nails the final episode.

Considering my level of dread and anxiety for most the last 8 eps, I was expecting the finale to crush me to my core. For my own sake, I'm glad it didn't. After seeing what became of Jesse in "Granite State", I was kind of expecting everyone to end up in a similar situation. Once the theme song played at the end of that episode, I settled down enough to realize that it wouldn't be as crushing as I feared. The series finale was smooth sailing and wonderfully done. I didn't need it to be like some crazy shot of Walt surrounded by his dead family, and a dead Holly in his arms while he blows his brains out.

Disagree quite strongly. Not that it's a great song by any means, but just the opening line as Walt's dying, plus the allusions to Walt's true love.

Yeah, maybe it is kind of corny, but it really resonated with me.

At the time the BB finale felt like a good payoff, managing as it did to give us as close to a happy ending as was possible with a few cool thrills along the way. "Baby Blue" was on my shortlist of possible ending songs, so I was pleased about that too! However, on reflection I now kind of hate it and I agree with MiRee446. It was all just too easy, and it appealed to the masses by doing all the things I hate about TV drama. Every single traffic light was green, and the viewer had their hand held throughout.

FFS they even spelled out exactly what Walt was planning with the machine gun before he did it. Lydia called and got through to Walt at exactly the right time, and he explained about the ricin. Almost an insult to the intelligence of the experienced viewers.

My #1 beef with this episode, as I recall, was Walt telling Lydia that he poisoned her with ricin. I think it would have been much better if he ended the conversation with, "How are you feeling?"

A television show of 40+ hours doesn't need to shock in its final episode, I'd almost say it's better that the show takes some time to give the show a proper conclusion, which Breaking Bad certainly did.

If you had to pinpoint a moment in which Breaking Bad started wrapping up, it would have started somewhere during the episode "To'hajiilee" (the episode before "Ozymandias"). That was a fantastic home stretch for such a long show. Very few shows with such a long running time have wrapped up better in my opinion. Six Feet Under comes to mind, but that's about it. (SFU certainly nailed the final episode)
