Quote:
The Borgias, also known as the Borjas, were an Italian noble family of Spanish origin; they became prominent during the Renaissance. The Borgias were patrons of the arts; thanks to their support, artists of the Renaissance could 'spread their wings' and realize their artistic potential. The most brilliant personalities of this era regularly visited their court. The Borgias became prominent in ecclesiastical and political affairs in the 1400s and 1500s. Today they are remembered for their corrupt rule when one of them was Pope. They have been accused of many different crimes, including adultery, simony, theft, rape, bribery, incest, and murder (especially murder by arsenic poisoning). Due to their search for power, they made enemies of other powerful families such as the Medici and the Sforza, as well as the influential Dominican friar Savonarola.
According to Wiki, it premiered tonight at 9PM EST on Showtime. Did anyone watch it? What did you think?

Finally got around to watching the pilot. I thought it was pretty, pretty, pretty good except for the fact that I had trouble understanding some of the stuff they were saying (with the mumbling and weird accents).

I actually watched it with closed captioning on and at low volume cause I was in bed and my wife was sleeping.

I wonder if I'd have the same trouble if I watched it in the living room.

I'm having a bitch of a time getting through the first episode. I've done 20 minutes or so at a time 3x's and can't go much more then that. I'd like to see how it goes since it's a mini-series, but I don't think I can force myself to sit through the rest, if I even finish the first episode.

I'm liking this a lot so far, my only criticism is that things are happening too quickly. I feel like they could go into more depth and let the show breathe a little.

Things moving too slowly is what gets shows canceled, because the average viewer is impatient

A nine-part historical fiction miniseries on Showtime set in 15th century Rome detailing the life of Pope Alexander VI pretty clearly isn't trying to win over the average viewer.

Irons is hilarious in this role. If the pope was seriously like this, he was so badass. I've purposely not read anything about this pope to make the show more enjoyable and suspenseful. Very, very entertaining.
