If Frank does go home, I think Dan has to do the following to keep his hands clean:

- Convince Jenn and Frank that he can't use the veto on Frank b/c he wants to keep their alliance on the DL... It's much easier to convince the house that he's just repaying Jenn for last week (but not actively aligned with her) than it would be to convince the house that Dan and Frank aren't working together if he takes Frank off the block.

- Reassure Frank that Dani will vote to keep him in the house, so he won't actually be at risk of going home.

- Then, if the vote comes out 3-2 with Ian as the tie breaker, the blood is at least partially on Ian or Dani's hands, not Dan's.

Not sure if Frank would totally buy the story, but it is at least plausible... Basically, Dan just says that he took his best shot at getting both Frank and Jenn out of a bad situation, but, unfortunately, he was only able to save one of them...

Dan's already trying to get the wheels in motion to take Jenn down to repay her for last week, but he wants Ian to agree to it. The plan seems to be to cause a 2-2 vote (Dan and Dani would intentionally separate their votes) so that Ian would break the tie and take out Frank (which is what Ian wants to have happen).

Another thing to remember about Dan: he's said in both his seasons that his first word is good. His first word is to Danielle. I'd expect him to turn on Ian at some point if he gets the chance as well. Fwiw I think Dan's intention was to keep Frank over Ian before this week. The only way that wouldn't have worked out was in the unlikely event Ian won HoH (everyone was targeting Ian coming into this week). Once Ian won HoH, Dan was in no position to help Frank.

Dan could still keep working with Frank if he's willing to screw over Ian. He and Dani could vote out Joe, and then it's 3 against Shane/Joe for HoH next week. They also have the 3 on 2 advantage if they keep Joe with Dan/Dani/Shane vs Joe/Jenn. They pretty much would just have to decide if they wanna roll with Ian/Shane or Frank/Jenn. The former is far more likely.

I know Frank is an idiot, but I don't think even he would be dumb enough to buy that Dani (who he's supposedly aligned with through dan) voted him out and dan wasn't behind it. And given that he and Jenn absolutely saved dan's hide after and because he swore on his bible and his ring, gotta believe it would leave a pretty bitter taste in his mouth.


But my question was more so how was/is Dan justifying it in his own eyes to himself? Like as everyone says he is a "good catholic boy", the bible and his ring actually mean something to him, so has he mentioned anything about how he is gonna go back on the word he gave on those items?

So the plan is for Dan to take down Jenn. Everyone thinks its part of their plan. Ian knows about it, but is going to act mad to hide he's working with Dan. Frank thinks its to protect the Dan/Dani/Jenn/Frank alliance. Jenn thinks its because Dan wants to work with her. Dani is going to act surprised so that it hides she's working with Dan.

Ian wants to send Frank home himself and hide his alliance with Dan/quack pack so he's trying to get Jenn and Dan to vote Frank to stay and send it to Ian with the live, in person deciding vote. Dan of course loves it.

Ian has started to spaz out a bit too much and hurt the image he had going for him, and his growing ego and social ineptitude will probably again bite him in this game. I assume he'd get Britney's vote and Ash so yeah he'd have a big head start but I think Dan could still win that H2H. I don't think Ian makes the final 2 though. He's set up to be pretty expendable at this point. Dan and Dani are both in way better spots.

How long do you suggest Dan keep Frank around? Guy is so beast at competitions compared to the rest, it's ridiculous. It's getting to the point where cutting him might be worth it if not just to drastically increase his own equity in competitions (and nooobody can beat Frank final 2). Also Dan doesn't see Frank's DR like we do so it's harder for him to trust the guy completely considering they were arch enemies like a week ago

Dan doesn't need to give Frank a whole line of BS about keeping him. If Dan is in the finals, Frank will vote for him. Much like we saw with Britney, they can be super mad at him for lying or not following through on his word or whatever, yet they'll still say "Dan is so damn good!" and convince themselves to vote for him.

It's pretty hard to be wrong so many times in one post, but you pulled it off.

Was a big Frank fan. Allowing my fandom to cloud rationale thinking. I always root for the people the house wants out.

fwiw Joe is the only dan hater and Frank is loyal to dan over anybody pretty much so keeping Frank isn't so crazy.
