My guess is something having to do with 2 1/2 men. Sheen went into rehab so they had to halt production temporarily. CBS execs probably dont want to have reruns of one show and new eps of the other so they will give time for 2 1/2 men to catch up. Just a guess.

TBBT is the highest rated scripted show on television - definitely not underrated. It pulls more viewers than CSI, House, Grey's Anatomy, etc...

Spoiler:
Didn't watch the rerun, but this week's was with Will Wheaton right?
I thought I read that Will Wheaton was coming back again to compete with Sheldon again, so they may have planned this to rerun this and take a week off, while reminding that storyline? Not too sure

Sheldon is such a great character that it's not just geeks that are watching it. My friend is a mechanic with no science background past grade 10, and he loves the show. Lots of soft science majors that I know like it as well.

That is exactly the point.

I mean if someone had said in 2000 that a show about a time travelling island, a remake of Battlestar Galactica and a sitcom about theoretical physicists would be 3 of the biggest shows of the decade no one would have believed it. Also Heroes was big but then became ****, but the point stands there to.

Your mechanic friend or his equiv would have never "stooped" to watching such a show just a few years ago but not TBBT is the biggest show out there that isnt celebrity dancing on stars with ice.

To be honest about the show, the original premise was probably terrible. But the writing and character interaction has gelled in an odd way. Somehow they manage to attract classes from morons to eggheads without offending anyone along the way. And the scenarios they set up, I start laughing my ass off sometimes just part way through the setup.

Also given the talk about laugh track in this thread I thought the Chuck Lorre card at the end was pretty amusing

Based on his interviews, I don't think he's stretching that far?

Love the show, episode wasn't that great. I think they could've done a lot more with Sheldon drunk, using a 'Uranus' joke? C'mon.

Tbh that entire part of the show soured the ep for me. Sheldon sings Russian folk songs when drunk, not tells extremely crappy low brow jokes. He would (badly) tell jokes about spherical cows, not show his arsehole and make a crude 4th grade pun.

Koothrappali.

Wil Wheaton = Sheldon ep start to finish.

This show has noticeably changed to being Sheldon centric. He is great, but id happily take some more stuff with the other four. Too much of a good thing mixed with i really like all the characters and dont want this to become the Sheldon show.

Been thinking on it recently, the Trek analogy the show made in season 2 is shockingly accurate. Leonard is Kirk the braver (lol all relative) natural leader who bangs the green alien Penny, Sheldon is Spock the smartest of them struggling with human customs who is an insider/outsider of the group, Raj is the random guy in red who is helpful for the story and is usually used as a sacrifice to move it along and he also doesnt need to speak to perform his role and finally Howard is Scotty because, err, yeah. Like Trek Leonard/Kirk was meant to be the star however viewers preferred Sheldon/Spock. However where it falls down is despite how much more popular he was they didnt change Trek in the show or the later films to dedicate more time to Spock. It worked because Spock/Sheldon bounces off the more normal Kirk/Leonard. Too much Sheldon i can see being a bad thing, sooner or later i can see it jumping the shark.
