Awesome open!

The questions will be flying in here.
05-01-2017 , 11:05 PM
****. Now I gotta wait an entire week to see the next episode of BCS.
05-01-2017 , 11:06 PM
so good
05-01-2017 , 11:28 PM
Wow. Not sure I totally get the angle of what Jimmy has planned here. Or should I say, I'm certain I don't get their angle.

Spoiler:
I'm not sure why the admitted existence of another copy of the tape is so critical.

Spoiler:
I'm not sure what the significance of the pictures Mike took will be regarding Jimmy's case.

Spoiler:
Part of me thinks Jimmy's plan is to do some sort of Scorched Earth routine where he tries to question Chuck's ability to continue to practice law based on his condition, and try to take Chuck down with him. But that doesn't seem to make complete sense either.

So, for the sake of brainstorming:

Question 1:
Spoiler:
What significance is it that Chuck admits that the tape Jimmy destroyed was a copy?

Thoughts:
Spoiler:
Certainly, since it is made clear that Chuck was fully expecting Jimmy to come and do exactly what he did, everyone is forced to assume that Chuck had a copy. But so what? Is the angle that Jimmy was entrapped? Are they going to try to argue that because Chuck is so violently ill around electronics that he couldn't have recorded Jimmy to begin with?

Question 2:
Spoiler:
What is the significance of the pictures Mike took?

Thoughts:
Spoiler:
The fact that Jimmy made a comment about the picture with the lantern in it, to me it seems like the pictures are supposed to showcase Chuck's illness/living conditions. But, like the first question, so what? I'm just not seeing the bigger picture of what there could be in those pictures that either helps Jimmy's case or hurts Chuck to the point that he agrees to drop charges against Jimmy. Certainly he's not ashamed of people knowing how he lives, its no secret.

I'm hoping one of you has this all figured out and can enlighten me, because I'm just not seeing it.

Regarding the tape:

Spoiler:
I would assume that they will accuse Chuck of withholding evidence and that will come up during the ethics hearing. Maybe it will cost chuck some legal issues. I'm not a lawyer but I'm just guessing that not producing that tape was not kosher.

Kim recorded Chuck admitting he entrapped Jimmy to come eff up stuff. Pics show what Mike altered in the "before" pics and now it's all fixed up...

Spoiler:
For the legal proceedings that have transpired so far with Fauxretta Lynch? Could be, but with the way the case was handled I'm not sure that the existence of a copy was required to be disclosed, or even relevant, or that it would have changed anything, but I could be very wrong here. I'm also not a lawyer.

Wait, so their line might be that:

Spoiler:
Nothing was ever broken. So Chuck comes in with "Really, well I hired so-and-so to come fix my place back up, which they did on this date." So that company is contacted, and they say "Sir, you cancelled that appointment the day before, we never came and fixed your stuff." So then Chuck goes ape**** saying "some bald guy came and fixed my door, I'm not crazy!" And then...???

If the Jimmy "visit" had all happened when Chuck was home alone, maybe that would fly, but there were two other witnesses there.

Or maybe I'm misunderstanding you. If so,
Spoiler:
please expound on what Mike did and what role the pictures might play in to this.

I thought Hector was pissing in the pool like he did in the flash back.

your thoughts and speculation arent spoilers

That was the best BCS episode ever. Mostly because we almost didn't get the other plotline. I could watch Don Eladio talking by the pool all day.

Regarding the pictures, every time Chuck has visited the hospital thus far, that one doctor was always cajoling Jimmy to have him committed. I'm not sure what's going on with the two copies of the tape, but I wouldn't be surprised if Chuck ends up locked in a nuthouse after the disciplinary hearing. Maybe after pointing out all of Chuck's craziness, Jimmy can convince the disciplinary board that the confession was a lie intended to prevent an increasingly unhinged Chuck from harming himself.

Opening shot was reminiscent of the teddy bear in the pool.

You spelled Don Eladio wrong.

My guess that the tape that ends up getting played will be in some way compromised. Maybe Jimmy will use status as Chuck's guardian or whatever it was to gain access

It's lame how they consistently use the lazy ploy of 'the main characters have a smart, multi-faceted plan in place for this, but you, the viewer, don't get to know what it is until a series of cryptic scenes that will play out over a couple episodes or more.' Might as well just own it and film the loony-tunes scene where one character goes 'I've got it! Here's what we'll do...' then whisper inaudibly into the other character's ear as the scene fades to black.

As far as what they are actually planning, I think it's setting up pretty well for a defense that Chuck is severely mentally ill and Jimmy's just been trying to help him. Maybe get that doctor to give her opinion and confirm that she's recommended that Chuck be committed a couple of times. Spin the tape as an example of Jimmy telling Chuck whatever he needed to hear to stop him from a full breakdown. Show Mike's pictures as evidence of the crazy and even dangerous (lantern on papers) way Chuck lives, as well as that the door wasn't badly damaged.

At some point they've gotta run into a party that isn't jovially understanding of Chuck's requests to have phones and watches sequestered before he can enter a room. The chairperson of the bar disciplinary committee could be that party.

longshot, but gonna write it in case it comes in:

They made Chuck insist a tape got destroyed in the hearing. When he shows up at the Bar thing with a tape, Kim+Jimmy will figure out a way to make him look foolish. Then come the photos, and whatever tale that accompanies them. K+J will get Chuck so flustered, so embarrassed, he'll drop the complaint...or the Bar will be so confused that they decline to throw the book at Jimmy.

This is close to what I was thinking. Chuck's correct belief that the rules of evidence for a disciplinary hearing are much looser than for court means that while the Board could disbar Jimmy, he isn't realizing that he could also be suspended from the practice of law due to his mental illness.

In addition to the pictures, Mike gave Jimmy something else that he found at Chuck's.

My thought is that it was Chuck's ex-wife's contact information. If Chuck has an Achilles heel, it's got to be her. Find her, bring her to the bar hearing, show her the pictures, etc. and watch Chuck squirm at her reactions. Probably more to the plan than this, but it's probably the base of the plan.

In other news, the "butt brothers" crack by Hector validates a long-standing theory about Gus and Max that had never been confirmed.

Good to see Nacho again. At some point, we'll see how Hector ended up in the wheelchair (I know we heard it was a "stroke", but really...) I have a feeling that Mike will put Nacho and Gus together to do it.

One more question -- Isn't Los Pollos owned by Madrigal out of Germany? Does that happen later? Were they just distributors, or were they some sort of co-bosses with Eladio? I don't remember if it was really explained.

Speaking of the lantern, I do want to point out that this forum, of all places, should realize that Chuck is literally going to die in a fire.

We know Gilligan likes foreshadowing.

Last season we saw the Dr. make a comment to Jimmy about how dangerous it is for Chuck to be without electricity, for example no smoke detectors.

We see Mike's pic of the Lantern and newspapers this week and again get a comment from Jimmy about how dangerous it is.

We know Chuck has to be out of the picture somehow for BB.

Spoiler:
The 10th episode of this season is titled "Lantern".
