Tedious episode at some points as some **** was just dragged out too long. Loved that Chuck got involved more. The $20MM line was A+ and the highlight of the episode.

I thought the $20m line was ridiculous.

Actually I get a similar vibe from her as I did from Betsy Brandt (Marie) in BB. Potential for superfreak.

For all you people who still don't get the "Don't spoil who will/won't show up because you saw it on IMDb" thing:

During the show was an ad for the new Tom Cruise movie. I thought I heard Bill Burr's voice in it. I'm not interested in MI movies, but I love Bill Burr, and wanted to know if he was in it. I quickly pulled up his IMDb page....then realized that I was about to possibly discover if his BrBa character is planning to show up on BCS, AND I DON'T WANT TO KNOW. I want it to be a surprise if it should happen. What is so hard to get about that?

My thoughts on this week:

--dropped box was nothing more than an "OMFG" moment (can't believe how much this sentence diminishes this incredible scene), not anything bad. Just my opinion, of course.

--Yeah, Hamlin is going to get all the moneyz, and Jimmy will plot his revenge. Opening scene of Hamlin passing on hiring Jimmy will go a long way in establishing Jimmy's motivation--if Hamlin had hired him, Jimmy would ship all the dollarz to Hamlin with pleasure; but since he didn't (and since he's screwing Chuck and shown a willingness to do the same to Kim), Jimmy's new life's work will be to burn down HHM.

--I like the vet. The way he loves animals (that poor inbred dog!) and doesn't blink to send Mike out murdering people.

--Dumpster scene was hilarious.

--Favorite moment of all, though, was when the mailroom kid made a crack about the jerk bosses upstairs, while Hamlin stood in the doorway.

Loved this episode. Great we finally got more insight into Jimmy and Chuck's relationship, loved the scene where he gets the phone call from the lawyer. I really like how this show is slowly developing characters and how they relate to each other.

i understand that just about everyone has seen BB and can't help talking about it in this thread, but i haven't seen it, and so i didn't know for sure that things would go bad for jimmy.

it's kinda funny this show is called "better call saul" but there is no saul. he is jimmy.

i loved the early scene with just the sound of the printer going as jimmy gets his life dreams crushed. so brutal.

bob odenkirk has an amazing voice for this character.
You're officially the control group in this thread. You're the lone voice who's viewing this show as a standalone.

That's a good thing, I think.

Don't get all the love, I think the show is pretty weak. Feels contrived to me, like they are forcing the story to fit the characters they developed in BB. I think ultimately this show is going to end up as a disappointment. It's too easy to see it all coming, and the really awesome part of BB was how it kept coming in from left field all the time. This thing ain't doing that at all.

They should've worked on something new from scratch instead of this. They for sure would've had no trouble getting the network on board. Right now It just feels like the creative team's talents are being wasted. Jm2c

Your opinions on television are pretty weak. This show is going to go down as a classic in its own right. Best writing of anything airing on TV at the moment, though I will agree that it makes me wonder how good other shows with great premises but poor writing such as The Walking Dead, Homeland, or previously Dexter, could be with Gilligan at the helm.

I don't think Hamlin could possibly get away with giving Jimmy nothing, but I doubt he gets anything close to his fair share. They're going to have to pay him a standard lawyer hourly at the very least (which I'm sure would still feel like nothing).

I do, and I think that's exactly how it will play out. Saul will be born out of the wreckage.

Sorry bro, but I don't consider it good writing when I know what the characters are going to say and do before it happens. I'm sorry that you do, but I guess that's why art is subjective.

Legally there is no way that he can avoid paying him at least an hourly. Plus either his brother is a partner or he isn't. Either way Jimmy gets paid something.

Anyone who has watched a good amount of TV will be able to do that to some extent on shows that don't try to be unpredictable just for the sake of it.

How I missed Bob's "god dammit"s from the Mr. Show days; he had a good one in the dumpster scene.

Final scene looked like his brother is so caught up in this exciting case work that he forgets about his condition, goes to the car by the cellphones, and only remembers when Jimmy calls his name with the concerned tone. Then he remembers, and is forced to consider that maybe his condition isn't medical, but has just been in his head the whole time, which is pretty devastating for him.

It might be far-fetched but Chuck's code is 1868 and that was the year of the failed impeachment of President Andrew Johnson. Are they dropping a small hint here?

btw that hobo wigwam comparison was perfect haha

This episode is about setting up the pins for the finale. Given that these episodes are usually really slow, this was pretty good.

No question that Jimmy will become Saul at the end of the season. Brother dying on the spot there is a distinct possibility, but imo unlikely. Charles is too good of a character to waste before the final episode of the season.

Whoever that the rest of the law firm is gonna dick Jimmy over is pretty bang on.

Maybe, but 1868 = 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution ratified

Quote:
the 14th Amendment greatly expanded the protection of civil rights to all Americans and is cited in more litigation than any other amendment.

Bro's failure to take the settlement and run bites them in the ass as thread predicts.

Blondie dismayed over Hamlin's unfair treatment, sleeps with Paul.

Whathisface noble baby sitting time leads to a criminal case + new career for Saul.

I also saw it like that and would like to see him admit it to himself. Tho can't shake the feeling that there's decent enough chance he'll just consider himself healed instead, seeing as they've shown him train for being outdoors etc.
