I dunno, maybe it's wrong of me to assume that most anything Africa = poor,
I was suprised that they had a pit stop the week before in a jam packed crowd, mainly due to saftey concerns for Phil. Watching some of the teams in taxis getting hit up for money because of the poor economy there in a third world country, with even one team getting spit on after declining to give the man some money made me wonder how much Phil had to deal with there.

but most of the helicopter shots of Ghana looked like something out of District 9.
They actually filmed in real refugee camps in South Africa for the scenes in District 9.

But I just could not understand why so many teams couldn't match where Ghana was on a freaking map!!! Hello! Doesn't anyone look at the magazines in the planes where they are going to? If I was going to some place I never had been to in my life, I would atleast like to know where it was on a map! Not to mention it isn't like they have anything else to do for the long flights! lol

re: flaunting wealth...one of the guys on the couples teams (i think either nick or chad) was waiving the money around they had for that leg of the race upon starting this leg. that made me laugh out of discomfort

I forgot about that! lol Man that was stupid! I was waiting for someone to grab it, and run off never to be heard of again, like the lady who got the pair of sunglasses. I am suprised more of the residents didn't try to take them, and run off with them.

I would have told the dealer that someone was about steal a pair of his glasses, but in real life if I was not in a race I would have just let the lady keep them. That was nice of one of the ladies, I believe the blonde Home Shopping host to find a pair of glasses that didn't have a scratch instead of just selling that person a pair with a scratch on them. She could have just cared about completing the challenge.

That was a sad elimination. Glee team had potential. I thought they would at least made it to F4. This has been the best season in a while too.

lol obv a west coaster hemstock. i was sad to see team glee go as well. especially with the way they exited doing the heel click into the sunset. respect!

i jotted down the departure times out of curious boredom.

10:15 team glee
11:19 team kentucky
11:29 chad&stephanie
12:12 volleyballers
12:23 nick&vicki
12:24 home shopping
12:29 jill&thomas
1:12 doctors
1:26 youtube son/father

not too many thoughts as i wasn't really focusing on this ep cuz i was watching my fantasy team lose to peyton manning as well but NDouche does some funny switching between we and i when talking about the express pass...as in we won it but i'll use it.

miss kentucky still makes my heart skip a beat but the shorter volleyball girl and the hot home shopping girl are making for quite a triumvirate.

oh, and interesting wiki observations that i would never notice from memory alone...connor of team glee had done all 4 roadblocks and of the remaining teams...the only ones without a 2/2 balance are chad/steph and nick/vicki where the guy has done both.

and while wiki can't so easily answer this...i'm curious how many teams this early have gone from first to out in an ep. kinda sucks to be victims of the everybody on same flight (but not required to use it) deal.

The moment they made this extra clear, I knew most of the front running teams were going to miss out on the upgrade. They just seem to make things a lot more obvious now with comments like that lately. I'm certain they have shown these prepaid tickets in previous seasons and never said how they are not required to use them, yet teams decided to find a flight on their own anyway.

Edit: I wouldn't say team glee fell victim to it since they had a 1 hour lead from 2nd place to start off, they just overlooked that option.

I can't remember all of the teams, but Alison Irwin from Big Brother, and her boyfriend at the time Donny, went from first to last on the season they were on.

Team Glee just got too confident I think and didn't even think about the earlier flights.

Power Ranknigs:

1) Brooke and Claire - worst finish was 6th, 3 in top 4.
2) Nat & Kat - ran a bit behind for 2 legs, but strong in other 2
3) Jill and Thomas - I think they have a bit left in them, too bad they lost their express pass
4) Michael and Kevin - Michael's stamina will hurt them in the end on a physical task, but they are doing well
5) Gary and Mallory - performing strong. Could last a little, won't win
6) Katie and Rachel - not impressed so far, but could last
7) Chad and Stephanie - can't last too much longer
8) Nick and Vicki - still surviving somehow

I haven't gone back and looked, but it seems like there haven't been a ton of "physical" tasks this season (which might be why some of the f/f teams are doing as well as they are).

For example: sledding, dogsledding, the slingshot, crossing the river in the boat, rolling the hoop... The "physical" tasks thus far have been more of this variety (balance/physics/gravity) rather than strength-based.

Previewed eating challenge should be interesting, IMO.

She's not even the most annoying person on the show, and I hate stupid people.

LOL @ the moron team still being in 6th.

Power Rankings:

1) Nat & Kat - smart team, seem strong, no drama
2) Jill & Thomas - one of the most consistent
3) Brooke & Claire - even more consistent
4) Michael & Kevin - old man's weakness gonna hurt eventually
5) Chad & Stephanie - performing poorly, and Stephanie only has done 1 roadblock
6) Gary & Mallory - doing well now, not very strong
7) Nick & Vicki - how are they still around?

This. My wife doesn't understand how she doesn't tilt me, either. And she's not really even stupid, it's just that her unbridled enthusiasm causes her to say things in ways that sound stupid because they're uncommon. She doesn't have the "what are people going to think of me" filter.

I was hoping one of the dating pairs would go this week.

I didn't think the doctors were going to be able to do the fast forward. I am pretty suprised!

mallory was is and always will be awesome.

i miss rachel already. when a team starts in last and finishes in last and and didn't really screw up, that's the sign of a poorly designed leg imo.

start-finish
1-1
2-2
3-5
4-4
5-3
6-6
7-7
8-8

that's just boring. especially when u factor in how dumb nick and vicki were to not even understand the fast forward rules.

volleyball girls were pisssssed at elimination station and while there isn't ever real drama there...the others seem a little upset at the negative energy and the girls seem to want the other 3 teams to stfu and leave them alone. as long as they get in bikinis, we all win though.

What was the time difference between last starting the race, and the team before them?

If it was a big time difference I could see. Doesn't seem like they ventured out much though, and just all stayed in a little spot.

It was pretty significant. The first X teams were all within an hour. The next was 1.5 hour off the start. The last was like 2.5 hours behind.

the volleyball girls did a great job even making it "close". Chad and Stephanie were an hour ahead of them to start and it being a non-flight leg pretty much meant that it would take a monumental **** up for them not to finish last

Vicki has pretty impressive stamina though, first doing that bridge task and then beating Nick in biking.

Awful episode, awful tasks though.

Him having to push the bike while she rode was pretty funny.

Yeah that was such a great scene. I was cracking up remembering how he earlier said he was so great at biking.
