Spitballing here. I have to wonder if Smoak may have built some small value. We actually have an excess of hitting right now, more than there are ABs to go around...feasible for him to go to Milwaukee for KRod/other RP so MIL can trade Lind for prospects/savings? Not like they're competing next year and we don't have enough ABs for Smoak/EE/Cola.

Edit to add: As much as Smoak's rep as a defensive 1B is great, some def metrics have Cola's 1B defense as practically equal.
