prob not worthy of a bump for the general NCAA thread since it's LOLpreseason and I hate it when sites make you click through each team to get more site hits, but Sporting News preseason rankings are out, and UNC is #1

http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-bas...cky-ohio-state

Top 5 if you don't want to click:
1. Chargers UNC
2. Kentucky
3. Ohio St
4. UConn
5. Duke

Hm I think this is his worst of the 2 national title teams, but this team is national title or bust no reason to not win one.

Since he's expected to follow along in the footsteps of other FR on Roy Williams national title teams of not good enough to start but hyped as a bonafied total badass, just how good is McAdoo vs Marvin and Ed Davis? I would rank Marvin in a landslide> Ed Davis (sucks how bad the NBA panned out for them). I haven't seen the first thing about McAdoo, but dude comes with a ton of hype. Hope it's more justified than Bullock last year. Injuries be damned, he was a disaster. I hate it that LM is injured. Would feel much better with a proven JR providing the 3pt threat that PH or Bullock. If Strickland learned to shoot, it might just be game over, but I doubt he did. Some of the worst shooting mechanics ever from that kid. Athletic freak, but outside of defense and fast break ability he needs a ton of work.

Beating Izzo as usual will be a fun way to kick off the season

McAdoo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Bullock. McAdoo will be bad ass. McAdoo was sick in the all-star games and is going to be a freak off the bench. I think it'll be tough to keep him on the bench...but will see.

Secret Scrimmage Up Next

The NCAA allows its basketball programs to either play two preseason exhibitions or pair an exhibition with a closed-door “secret” scrimmage that’s not allowed to be open or promoted to the public. UNC has opted for the latter in recent years, scrimmaging Vanderbilt in '08 and ’09 before hosting UNC-Greensboro last November.

This year’s scrimmage will occur on Sunday against Georgetown.

Strickland told reporters that the glorified practice would be scripted, such as UNC playing defense on five consecutive possessions before switching to offense for an equal amount of reps. The importance of the scrimmage is that North Carolina will get in work against a high-major opponent before the season opener against Michigan State in the Carrier Classic.

“It prepares us for that game in San Diego,” Strickland said. “We can’t just take the game lightly because it’s an exhibition game or a scrimmage. We’ve got to go out there and just try to give it our all and try to get the ‘W’.”
