That's looking pretty good for October I think.

yea i'd like to see anybody that thinks they can put their rotation up against that.

Consider that if you take out if you take out Wellys 4 innings, the brewers solid offense scored 2 runs on us the entire other 23 innings of the series. And 4 runs in 4 innings isn't really beating up on Welly. Its about average.

Bad news for the cubbies, The Machine just went through one of his mini slumps during this series. He generally doesn't slump 2 series in a row.

I like the Cards as much as the next person, but you weren't being serious here, were you? The Dodgers, the Giants, and the Braves all have good to very good rotations. At the top especially, which is all that would really matter in the playoffs. Let's not go sucking each others dicks just yet, gentlemen.

Fair enough, not hands down the best rotation but we certainly gotta be in the discussion. However, I think the top of our rotation strengthens the argument rather than hurts it. Carp/Waino is definitely a mean combo to throw at anybody especially considering they've both proven to be big game/playoff performers. Follow it up with a very solid pen and a closer who's been basically perfect and i'm a happy fan.

Just gotta hope the offense can squeeze out a couple runs per game.

I think Ludwick is back for reals. He's clearly seeing the ball much better. Add DeRosa after the break and possibly Glaus down the road, and I'm starting to like our chances...

Ugh, why does Tony insist on making Rasmus bunt? It's just dumb especially when you factor in the times that Rasmus bunts and doesn't advance the runner.

Bing Blang Blaow! How do you like us now?

Always great to get the first one. Guess we ruined the mood out at Wrigley Bar.

I'm going to cry my eyes out when he retires. And I'll be damned if he doesn't retire a Cardinal.

It's going to be overlooked in this nice win, but another 0 for 4 day for Ankiel. Yeesh. No one has supported that guy more than me over the years, but I wonder if he can get out of this. It's like everyone has learned how to pitch to him, and he's helpless up there.

I wonder what the odds are that he tries to pitch again someday? Slim of course, but it's not like his career could get any stranger. "Now coming out of the bullpen for you 2014 Cardinals, your left handed one out guy, Richard Ankiel."

He just looks so lost in every at bat. He was awesome at the beginning of last year but sucked in the 2nd half. Add that to this 1st half and it's been a year since he was at least an average hitter. He's still under 30 so I think eventually he could turn into a better hitter.

That said, I'm glad we didn't sign him to a huge contract in the offseason.

We lose the game we're "supposed" to lose (Thompson vs. Their All Star). No biggie. Go and get em tomorrow.

Yep if we can at least pull off a split tomorrow we gotta be quite happy with this road trip. I'm liking our chances of sweeping both games though.

Pretty much zero excuse for bringing in Wellys dumbass in a big game when our pen is plenty rested.

I'll take the split. First place at the all-star break. Cubs tied for third/fourth. Everything is as it should be.

Did anybody hear Joe Buck before the HR Derby talking about how the only player STL fans ever got on was Izzy? He said it was unfortunate because he was playing hurt, blah, blah, blah. If he is out there unable to get people out, completely blowing games because he's hurt, he shouldn't be out there.

But we all know he wasn't really hurt. The reason he couldn't get people out was because he always sucked, but now he really sucked. The lone reason he got a million chances was because he was a favorite of TLR. If that situation happened in NY somebody would have gotten assassinated.

That comment tilted me so much. We needed to boo to voice our displeasure with this ****ed up situation.
