Looks like the director of officials admitted they botched the call on Delanie's fumble. I'm not particularly shocked that was wrong. Ed spent no time and I thought it would have been a tough decision. Whatever, good thing it didn't matter but really sucks that they would miss something so clearly wrong and do it so quickly in a huge spot.

Just saw Dean Blandino (Director of Officiating) on NFL breaking down the non-turnover in the Steelers Cowboys game and 49ers Patriots game. Identical plays, the Steeler's game called it an incomplete pass while we were hit with the turnover.
In the end, Blandino said the Steelers' game was called correctly, and the call in the 49ers Patriots game was incorrect -- it should have been an incomplete pass. He made the case that a catch is a 3-part process: Establish control, both feet in bounds, and enough time passing to make a football move. In order to confirm the third part, the replay official is supposed to watch the play in real time.
Further went on to say the NFL Replay official reviewed the play in the booth, but failed to watch the play in real time to correctly rule whether the third condition was met, but the field official never went under the hood to review the play since the official in the booth deemed this "obvious."
Apparently the two plays, which are incredibly similar, are now going to be used as a training video for the rest of the league officials in an attempt to remain consistent.....
