Please don't mention fielding percentage ever again.

Good fielding stats are difficult to compute, but fielding percentage is an abortion of a stat.

Decent article on why Rollins is sucking so bad this year

What’s Wrong with Jimmy Rollins?

Yes Sir, whatever you say sir.

Whatever, the point is that Jimmy's defense is not one of our top 2-3 concerns.

Lidge to the DL with sprained knee. Paul Bako (?!?!) called up to fill the roster spot.

Good, I guess they dont want to bring up a bullpen arm now that Romero is back?

They were carrying few bench players as it was.

Calling up Bako will allow the team to use Coste as the RH bat off the bench, obviously.

I believe that by the end of the season Mayberry will surely be up and will be the primary RH pinch-hitter, but for now it's far more valuable to have him playing every day than to give him 4 AB per week with the big team.

Hopefully his knee will finally be able to heal and he can dominate again soon. I really think management screwed this up by letting him try and play through this. They should have sat him out when the knee flared up and got him healthy.

I don't think Lidge's knee is all that badly hurt. While he's not really the same pitcher he was last year, he definitely ran really good all of last season. This year, he's running much, much worse.

I guess a DL stint will be good for him.

That was a great game and a big win. A few hours of my afternoon well spent.

Edit: On the flip side of Jimmy, what has gotten into Ruiz? Did he finally figure out how to hit, or just running hot, or what? His OBP is like 430.

looks like he is being more patient and showing more power...he's walking more and hitting more fly balls. although all I can see is the stats page...

PokerFink, I'd like to know that about the whole team. Rollins is the only one underperforming. Of course with the pitching struggling mightily we need those insane run totals, so heres hoping it keeps up.

Great game...seemed like a lot of emotion for mid-June which is nice to see.

No one is really overperforming except Ruiz and Ibanez. Howard is off to a better-than-normal start, but his numbers are in line with what you would expect from him over the entire season.

Along with being more patient he is doing a good job staying inside of the outside pitch. Last year he was turning that pitch over and hitting ground balls to the left side, this year they are liners and flies to right.

Which makes me hope he can sustain it.

Odd how Santana and Pelfrey had the timely hits the last two nights for the Mets.

Rollins is getting better. Like Bremen said, the Tatis grab was just silly.

Chan Ho delivered another two solid innings in relief (though Werth saved the game with that diving grab off David 3-for-5 Wright). Got to give him credit again.

6-3 on this road trip so far is good. And those three losses were all one-run losses. 7-3 would be even nicer. Let's hope Jamie can locate tonight, and they can keep dangerous guys like Redding off the base path.

Agree Steve, Rollins has had some good at bats the past two nights and has hit the ball hard.

Would have liked to see Madson come in earlier, but still nice to win.

It's disapointing when you have two wins locked up and blow it in the 9th.

It certainly could be, but I don't know about should.

Redding has actually had good numbers against the Phils. I recall him as being particularly annoying, so I just checked the numbers. Last year in 5 starts he posted a 1.13 WHIP and held the Phils to .219 batting average (vs 1.34 WHIP and .275 for opponents overall). In 13 innings at Citizens Bank (over two starts), he allowed just 4 hits, 4 walks, and 1 earned run.

And Moyer's outings recently have been much better than the start of the year.

Intense game! So many tipping points/clutch moments.

I am relieved they won, partly because I'm going tonight and it would have been a little more rough...

9.5 seems too low for over/under tonight.

Sick game last night, Werth's play in right was top notch. Madson looked comfortable in his new temporary roll.

I dont think Chan Ho looked very good at all, yea he started both innings off well but allowed multiple 2 out base hits. He was one more bad pitch from losing the game. But I guess he didnt and thats all that matters, the man makes me pretty uneasy.

Edit: His breaking ball looked better then it had in a while.

Lol at Jack Taschner having the only 1-2-3 inning of the game until Madson.
