pretty speechless. there is no acceptable explanation. abysmal coaching decisions just cost them the biggest game of year.

That was one of the worst 3 play stretches of play calling I've ever seen. Combine that with how ridiculously conservative his play calling has been recently and I've lost all enthusiasm for him. Hopefully he can adjust and realize how much he's messing up.

Season isn't over, but there wasn't much hope to begin with. Obviously, Dallas is overrated. Eagles don't have the offensive talent to get far, but to let wins slip away like this just sucks.
Yep.

Let's count the terrible coaching decisions by Pederson at the end of the game.

- Gives Smallwood his first carry of the game in the 4th quarter.
- After marching down the field to get into FG range, decides to try a flea flicker.
- On third and 8 and looking at a very reasonable FG attempt, runs a play where the checkdown option is well behind the LOS resulting in a huge loss.
- Decides not to kick the field goal from the same distance his kicker had made earlier.
- With 29 seconds left and all three timeouts allows Dallas to run the clock out on 3rd and 21 at their own 15.

All in the 4th quarter folks. Absolutely ****ing brutal.

There was a graphic towards the end showing Wentz had 0 attempts more than 20 yards, 5 more than 10 yards, and 35 under 10....

What in the actual f***?? This play calling is some of the most boring s*** I've ever seen.

We actually did have one pass attempt over 20 yards tonight. Unfortunately it came from Josh Huff.

eagles had like 2nd and 3 or 4 up by 7 in the 4th in field goal range. Run the ball a couple times? Maybe play action and take a shot since they will be selling out for the run? Spread them out and have Wentz diagnose the play like he'd been doing all game? Nah lets do this gimmick play where Josh Huff throws it deep. Ok that didn't work lets at least make sure we stay in field goal range since going up 10 is huge at this point in the game. Nah lets throw a screen that starts 6 yards behind the line that asks our injured center that can barely move to block Sean Lee. Oh crap that didn't work well its a 53 yard FG and our kicker boomed 2 in earlier from 55 so we should try a field goal because again going up 10 is enourmous this late in the game. Nah gotta punt and play the percentages.

nfl coaches are the best

32 completions, yay! 202 yards passing, what?

That was a pretty disappointing way to lose a game they really never should have won anyway.

I get Wentz is a rookie and "still learning" an hwhat not, but please don't turn him into Alex Smith 2.0

I'm not worried about Doug. He played scared and I think he'll be kicking himself when they review the game tape. Just based on his rhetoric thus far I think he's comfortable recognizing and admitting mistakes. This season doesn't matter since the Pats are -1000 to win the SB, just need Doug and Wentz to progress.

The 4th down decisions were good but virtually all the 3rd or 4th and short playcalls were bad. Hopefully they keep learning

Not all negatives today despite how sickening it is to be in last place right now... three division road losses all by one score. The lack of a go to receiving threat is still glaringly the biggest weakness.

From 3-0 to 4-4. Season over. Doug has regressed from pre- bye week form.

The funny thing, is that if you said preseason that Philly would be 4-4 at this point, we'd all probably say "We'll take it!".

What's going to be annoying is all the "Doug shouldn't have gone for it on those 4th downs" stuff we will probably here. When in reality, going for it was fine it was just the playcalls that were awful.

What concerns me is that the four wins have all be games that were won by more than one possession. So there was really no crucial spots/playcalls late that had a huge impact on the game. However in each loss, there has been one or two crucial decision or playcalls that was just terrible.

Well when you start 3-0 expectations change. At the way they have gone 1-4 since then is unacceptable. Obviously seen enough to give Doug, Wentz, and this staff more time but that doesn't mean there's not a lot to be critical about right now. And the schedule isn't getting any easier.

Yes and no. 4 road games out of 5, a ton of games against teams coming out of the bye week really wasn't a very easy stretch. This year's schedule sucks ass anyway.

/r/eagles is pretty unreadable at the moment (not that it's a reasonable place anytime, but still), because "you have to take the points" and "can't leave points on the board on the road, it's football 101" is all over the place. I loved the going for it on 4th, and can't understand somebody criticizing especially that 4th&1 on the Giants 6 (like my German commentator the whole rest of the game, so annoying), but agree the playcalling has been bad and unimaginative.

And stubborn, too. Trying yet another QB keeper after it never came close to being a threat, etc. Also why didn't Treggs get another chance late when he catched that long ball earlier and Agholor and DGB were playing terrible?

I'm not sure the initial 4th down try was great but the playcall was definitely atrocious. The next 4th down try from inside the 10 was obviously fine. It's hard to figure out how much blame Pederson gets here because he clearly lacks any serious weapons to help out Wentz but by not trying to stretch the field (they did more in this game of course, but generally speaking) they've become super predictable.

The first three weeks they trusted Wentz to make a lot of intermediate throws. What happened? Does losing Lane Johnson change their offensive approach that much?

Think they ran the same Wentz QB sweep against the Vikings when Wentz fumbled the snap but picked up the 1st down anyway.
