If you're ever in Vegas let me know. We can play some $4-8 limit poker together--holdem, omaha, or omaha hi lo (I don't like playing nl with people tho cuz it's not a friendly game). I also love old school nintendo games if your game! My Penn State buddy was in town the last few days and he kinda kicked my ass. My records:

Tecmo Super Bowl: 0-2
RBI Baseball: 0-2
Blades of Steel: 1-0 (thank god)

In my life I have made three big bets on Penn State:

PSU +1 vs UCF 2014, $3,000 to win $2,727.27
PSU -5 vs IU 2014, $2,200 to win $2,000
PSU 2H -5.5 vs MSU 2016, $3,300 to win $3,000

All came in. No other team treats me this nicely.....except that one time I bet $5.3K against them in 2013. Wish I had bet more often on Penn State this year. My god what a cover machine.

BTW as far as this upcoming championship game, I have no clue who's gonna win. Looks like a coin flipper to me. I guess according to Sagarin ratings, the line will be around Wisconsin -4. I hope Penn State wins. Love watching McSorley. Pure winner. Best QB in the B1G. Hopefully Barkely is ok.

Also, what a huge game Friday night. Go Buffs!

Great bet! PSU has been a second half team all year. They are heavily rotating DL during the first half and I think that really shows up as an advantage in the 2nd.

McSorely is really good. He's probably the best player no one is talking about this year. He is on pace to set the single season yards mark as a QB at PSU.

I'm trying to decide whether I would prefer PSU to play Colorado in the Rose bowl or get murdered by Alabama in the playoffs.

Just insane that they even got 10 wins this year.

That month of playoff lead up press would be worth the chance of getting wafflecrushed by Alabama. It's a free roll.

Kaindoh officially de-committed from Maryland. Announcing at the UA game. Every crystal ball on 24/7 has him coming our way.

I am pessimistic this happens. It's very difficult to pull a Michigan guy away from UM when they are doing so well. A lot of recruits get excited immediately after a visit and then calm down later when they have time to think things over. That said, James Franklin is a really personable guy. He has a winning team he can sell. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

Another potential factor is his long-stated desire to play with his cousin, Jaylen Kelly-Powell, a Michigan commit. It may or may not end up being a factor, but it is something that he has mentioned a bunch earlier during his recruitment.

Still #7 in new rankings.

Listening to the chairman was a joke. Don't think there's any chance we get in unless BOTH Clemson and Washington lose.

Might have the 3rd and 4th best B1G teams in playoffs before the conference champion.

What a joke!

OSU probably getting in regardless. Michigan is not.

Playoff chairman said UM and Washington were very close, which leads me to believe that they get in before us if Clemson or Washington win.

I'm not worried. UM ain't getting in ahead of PSU/Wisc winner.

The top 4 right now will get in with wins.
#5 UM
#6 Wisc
#7 PSU

I really believe the winner of #6/7 will jump UM for the 5th spot. I am more worried about Oklahoma or Colorado jumping into the 4th spot than UM. The conferences will put pressure on the committee to include a team from each conference if it seems reasonable. They didn't set up this whole committee nonsense to send 2 teams from the B1G or SEC every year.

Since I know ILP reads this thread and I don't want to clutter the playoffs thread, I present to you the great Trace McSorley debate!

Quote:
IDK man, Kerry Collins was literally unstoppable. Threw an amazing deep ball. That Penn State 94 offense was one of the best offenses I have ever seen. I do think McSorley is the best QB in the B1G right now.
It's hard to compare different eras but Kerry had the advantage of a better OL that could take the pressure off with a punishing run game. McSorley still has more yards and a better TD:INT ratio. Collins has the better completion percentage and therefore better QBR, but Trace has legs and picked up an additional 6 TDs on the ground this year.

Kerry was a senior while Trace still has 2 years to play. Hopefully the OL (who is mostly freshmen at this point) improves next year and it's exciting to think what might be possible. Our 2017 schedule appears tougher though.

I don't know how to take what the Commish said. I heard him say that Wash and m*ch*g*n were paper thin close. To me that means that if 3 or 4 loses then m*ch*g*n simply moves up. Now if Wisky or PSU wins in an epic way like OSU did 2 years ago maybe they jump. But I didn't hear that option at all last night.

I don't think anyone really "knows" what the committee will do. But my speculation is that politics matters to the conferences. I would guess other conferences would not be in favor of 2 B1G teams in general, but especially if neither won their own conference. Also the rankings are supposedly re-ranked each week. It's my speculation that since the B1G winner is guarenteed to have an extra win against a top 10 opponent this week, UM gets left out. If Colorado wins in a big way, I could see them taking UW's spot too.

My ranking of Penn State QB's since I've been watching (1988), and admittedly I can't remember who the QB was before Collins.

1) Kerry Collins
2) Michael Robinson
3) Matt McGloin
4) Trace McSorley
5) Daryll Clark

I asked my Penn State buddy what he thought and here's his hot takes. (Keep in mind this is at the level of two guys talking over beers. We don't care about analytics or stats, we only care about our dumb opinions. We don't take football THAT seriously.) Anyways here's all his texts:

Quote:
"Since I enrolled (1997) 1. Michael Robinson, 2. Matt McGloin, 3. Daryll Clark, 4. McSorley, 5. Zack Mills, 6. Hack, 7. McQueary or Kevin Thompson I guess..."
Quote:
"The thing is, it's a really sad list...might be better to do best seasons. In that case...
1. Michael Robinson 2005
2. Matt McGloin 2012
3. McSorley 2016
4. Daryll Clark 2009 (better this year than the year he won the big ten in 2008)
5. Hack 2013"
Quote:
"McSorley this year isn't above McGloin 2012 because McSorley has Barkley and perhaps the best receiving corps in the big ten...maybe Michigan's is better"
BTW I thought he was crazy when he said that cuz Michigan's WR's are pretty pedestrian if you ask me. Anyways back to more texts.

Quote:
"The counter to that is, well, McGloin had Allen Robinson at wr who is an nfl pro bowler...but he lost his best rb (Silas Redd) and best wr (Justin Brown) to the free transfer rule before the season."
Quote:
"McSorley is very similar to Robinson in my opinion, except Robinson was so much faster. McSorley has b-minus speed where Robinson had b-plus speed. That makes a big difference."
Quote:
"Really the biggest mystery will always be where Hack would have been had O'brien stayed. Might have been one of the best ever in the big ten."
Quote:
"Also, you have to think back at key moments...2005 Michael Robinson had several key moments---final drive at northwestern, final drive at Michigan (yes they lost), short drive before halftime of the orange bowl...McSorley really only has one moment this year, although it's a super big one--the drive at the end of regulation vs Minnesota to send it to OT. You might argue the 5 play 90 yard drive vs Ohio State to make it 21-14 but again that only made it 21-14. Also, McSorley choked against Pitt throwing that pick--which might keep us out of the playoff. Michael Robinson didn't choke in 2005. Had McSorley engineered a game winning drive against Pitt, which he was on the verge of doing especially after completing that 4th and 16, then it's a whole different story."
Quote:
"BTW if Washington or Clemson loses, I think you guys should get in over us. You guys completely dominated us. Penn State getting in over Michigan would be an insult to all of humanity. After all, you're Michigan, we're just Penn State."
Spoiler:
Only the last quote is made up.
