This is such a non-story. Sure there are a lot of people who'd like to nail the Vest to the wall but this is weaker than Chris Carter Jr's pickup lines.
I don't think its a non story, OSU could get in some **** for this. I think all the "Tressel lied he could be FIRED!" talk is just sensationalism ruling over common sense. yes, he could be fired for this, but it'd take a lot more than him holding back reporting this for OSU to fire him 'for cause'. It's not like OSU is looking for a reason to get rid of him.

I still think the incident that spawned all of this is ****ing stupid, though. Players selling **** they own for roughly face value, give me a ****ing break. lying about it/possibly covering it up makes it a legit offense, but the rule itself is dumb.

I love how the Michigan fans claim OSU is sooooo dirty. lol. We are not perfect, probably far from it, but lol at acting like we are a renegade program.

After the Clarett scandal (which nothing was proved) and the Smith-booster handshake (who Tressel immediately punished) , I don't think we have much to worry about. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I think Tressel deserves more than the benefit of the doubt. I guess we will know more in a couple hours.

I find it odd they are just know trying to verify their source. They are just know asking for the emails to connect their story. Isn't that something that should be done before you run with it on a national level?

Give Terrelle Pryor some kind of automatic weapon and you'll be a renegade program so fast it'll make your head spin.

Cliff's Notes

-Tressel was emailed about a drug trafficking investigation that could involve some players. (it most likely had to do with the tattoo parlor but that is pure speculation on my part and officially no players were involved)

- Tressel was told this had to be confidential by the lawyer who emailed him because it was a federal investigation

- Tressel told no one at first but admitted in the presser he should have gotten legal counsel

- Once the investigation became public OSU self reported

Basically Tressel is being suspended because he was given a heads up about a federal investigation and told no one. It was a violation on Tressel's part but I'm not sure what he could have done. He did actually know about it before it was reported and did nothing because it was part of a federal investigation

confusing press conference, seem to be talking around what actually happened. he got tipped off about this in an email that his players were involved in some federal drug investigation(what details they didn't say) and didn't go forward with it to anybody because of the confidentiality of it. but if it was confidential information how did it come to him via email?

if no players were involved when he was tipped off about the investigation in april then why was he tipped off?

nothing really makes sense about that. why does that warrant a 2 game suspension. players would have had to have been mentioned at that point for him to have had any information that he should have come forward with at that point.

I think he said a lawyer emailed him. Probably a buddy of his that is giving him a heads up that some of his players could be in big trouble.

At the beginning of the presser I thought he said there were two players who were thought to be a part of it. He didn't say if they were former or current though.

edit: He actually just said they are 2 current players but turned out they weren't involved.

is he supposed to take that to the ncaa if its still part of an ncaa violation?

I dunno, sounds like he didn't have any specifics, but can he really act on that?

It was a federal investigation and he was told it had to be confidential. He probably should have done something but I don't know what. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. That is why he is suspended for 2 games.

I suppose they can do whatever the hell they want but I doubt they will. For now he is suspended 2 games.

so according to the letter to the ncaa, in april he was told some of his players were involved in the investigation, that they were receiving free/discounted tattoos, and that they were selling memorabilia. he was not given any names, but was told that it was confidential due to it being part of a federal investigation, and to protect the confidentiality of the attorney(which was requested). he should have reported it to the director of compliance at OSU but didn't.

so basically an attorney emails him telling him that some players are selling ****, but don't talk about it because it could interfere with a criminal investigation. wtf is he supposed to do with that.

Tressel has always been dirty as ****. That clean haircut and fruity vest and adoring media obscured it. Remember when his qb at Youngstown St. got $10k cash?

I feel bad for the UM fans. They had to really hope something huge was going to happen here and OSU would go down in flames. Sorry for the disappointment but I suppose you all are used to that by now.
