Disgusting how our mistakes have kept Ty's players in this game. I missed the first quarter, who gets the ball at the beginning of the 2nd half?

When one team has a qb that can move, they usually get the ball pretty often. No point in nit picking though, the 3rd qtr has been us sucking on all cylinders.

Very well. Tate is a bona fide late 1st round / early 2nd round pick. Clausen's stock will be dependent to some extent on the other QBs in the draft with him. But he will be one of the first few taken whether he comes out a year early or not.

ND needs to replace #7. He can't perform in the redzone.

He has to be covered in vaseline or love juice or something

3 Inspiring GL stances by ND. Refs tried to take this game away from them but it didn't matter. Here comes Clausen for the final drive.

Seriously. I can't take the mother****ing drama. Dollars to donuts USC ends the same way (dramatic fashion, not necessarily an Irish win)

I dunno. Trojans don't drop the wide open passes like Mich St and Ty's players. As I often say, I hope Weis learned something.

It's pretty indefensible that the defense is this bad at this point in Weis' tenure.

Well, what about his NFL background gave you confidence that he could coach D?

Personally, I think that at the end of this season the defensive coordinator should be fired. And the decision of who is replacement is should not be left to Weis. There are some talented athletes in and around that defense (though not enough for it to be an elite unit of course). Seems to me that it is time for someone else to get a shot at making them into a decent unit.

It isn't about coaching the D, it is about building a non awful defense through recruiting and his staff 5 seasons into his tenure.

Yeah, I don't think the recruiting side of that is the problem though. There is enough talent for the D to be serviceable. When it isn't, I think you have to look square at the coaching for why.

LOL Post on Ndnation:

The only "roughing the snapper" I saw...

was that amazing 2-hand game Hammond played, apparently checking to see if his "reassignment" surgery was holding up, so to speak.

And Pat Haden, go **** yourself. Indisputable evidence, my ass. Put a camera on the goal line; (hint:you could probably use the one in you embedded in Nick Holt's push-up bra). And the Bush Push reference (which, I think, is what set off his stablemate's frantic Pee Wee Herman actions) was a-festering for four years. Harriet Miers' doppelganger, "Big Ol" Pat, get out of our booth. Mel Reynolds was a Rhodes scholar, too, and that mother****er didn't pretend yo.

NBC is a bloody ****ing disgrace. As overtime began, the DTV feed here in Chicago went to some lame peacock test pattern and the Comcast cable feed fizzled out as well. ****ing "A. M. Beirut" has better production values.

Let's give Jeffrey Immelt another goddamned honorary degree.

Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!!!! Woot!

We're on our 3rd D coordinator in 4 years. Before this year most people thought that Ternuta was a great D coordinator because he called a lot of blitzes. After the Blueblow we figured out that blitzing constantly isn't always the right thing.

There'sa ton of young and new players on this D. Nothing but time is going to fix that. But I agree we shouldn't be this bad; leaving wide open receivers late in the game 3 times in a row?

They returned something like nine starters from last year, there is no way the defense should be so bad. If I were in charge I'd ****can Tenuta tonight and go back to Corwin Brown as the coordinator for the rest of the year, they've taken the 39th ranked defense last year and turned it into a bottom 20 in the country one statistically when they should be getting better.

Congrats to the Irish. I wonder if we'll look back on this game as the one in which Robert Hughes emerged as yet another potent offensive weapon. A little fuzzy on how 500 yds of offense accounted for two TDs, then I remember the 2 wildcat experiments frustrating two drives. ND taking the ball out of Clausen's hands and making him a receiver is starting to really make me horny.
