I wonder what they'll do if it's pissing rain all day like it's supposed to. The O's sure as hell aren't coming back to the Bronx to play a meaningless game when they have playoffs to worry about.

MLB hoping it doesn't rain on Derek Jeter's parade

Quote:
There is a decent chance of rain for Thursday night when Derek Jeter is scheduled to play at Yankee Stadium for the final time. If the bad weather shows up, Major League Baseball’s plan is to do whatever it takes to get the game in and not end up looking all wet in the process.

...The idea of a rainout is essentially untenable because there are no open days on the schedule for either team before the season is supposed to end on Sunday. In the final three days, the Yankees are scheduled for three games in Boston and the Orioles are slated for three games in Toronto.

...Next Monday is left open on the schedule in case ties related to making the playoffs need to be broken, but unless Baltimore’s seeding for the playoffs hangs in the balance, the Orioles aren’t going to see any purpose in coming back.
Baltimore is very likely to be the 2-seed.

LA Angels: 97-61
Baltimore: 94-63

Did having Jeter bat 2nd really hurt the offense this year?

Y.E.D. has now come Hoping it doesn't rain tomorrow but if it does and the game gets washed out just to troll Boston one last time I hope he sits out the weekend.

A little but how was that different then the last few seasons, plus why would you expect a 40 year old SS to carry the team in offense. What hurt the offense is Beltran, McCann, Ellsbury, Tex...not in that order but all of them as a collective. You can even make the argument that A-Rod being suspended for the year hurt the offense. However the latter 4 are more of a culprit to the offensive woes this season then anything Jeter did.

David Robertson...if I was you I would find the deepest darkest hole possible and never come out again...

A-Rod is going to be a + at least

Excited for next season. I didn't really say it last summer, but I hope they dump $$ on a SP and resign Kuroda for another 1yr deal. Team can still compete if healthy

need Pineda and CC to be able to walk on a baseball field though

That was just wacky. I was getting a little sick of the season-long sendoff, but holy **** was that a great way to finish it.

If he even travels with the team to Boston now, he's crazy.

Bigger loss, no Jeter or no more Bob Shepard in the Stadium?

Nice to see this post.

About 5 years ago I got murdered in the Yankees thread because I said Jeter brought intangibles to the field. Curious considering it was the Yankees team thread, regarding an all time legend.

So what do NYY need to do to be playing at this time of year next year?

What should they do?

I declare this the year of the luck box. This team has the highest upside/downside differential of any team I've ever followed.
