Goodie, how could you not think I was being sarcastic? Why the **** do the Patriot's need another 3rd round pick next year the way they are already stocked. for them to do this, as a contender, they had to be convinced that Randy was already or was about to be a cancer off the field and/or would eventually not give 100% on the field.

My bad. Apologies.

I believe all of those quotes from Randy, Bill, and everyone involved. But we're still missing from all of this one key piece of information that links all of this together into a chain of actual logic: what Moss did or said that forced the Patriots' hand. I highly doubt it was just a pouting on Monday night or bickering with the QB coach. I believe they full intended for Moss to play out this season because he has no incentive to do otherwise, and the Patriots can easily play the "STFU and play" card. The fact that they decided it was better to ship Moss off for questionable value in return rather than play this card leads me to believe there was something else. But we may never know unless BB writes a memoir someday (which would be one of the greatest sports reads of all time if he opened the doors 20 years from now... I can dream).

The reports are all wrong.

Favre sent pictures of his junk to Moss instead of Jenn Sterger. Moss snap requested a trade. Now they can score all they want. Just business after all.

The Pats are talking to Seattle about trading for Deion Branch.

anyone remember that video where branch and brady said they could run plays just by looking at eachother? branch is getting old and seattle sucks so we should be able to get him if bb really wants him.

Where's Steinbrenner when you need him? Still it might be heard as racist or paternalistic if a white told a black to get a haircut.

as long as hes still fast, Brady will do the rest. Im excited about it. Im glad to hear that we only gave up a 4th as well. Very happy about this deal.

I agree, Mdoran. I have to admit, I've paid very little attention to Branch after he left NE so I have no idea if he has anything left but I liked him a lot when he was here. Seems like giving up only a fourth is a good deal.

Branch is supposed to be slow as **** after all his injuries. I'm really not sure how I feel about this deal. If nothing else I guess he'll be a good mentor for the kids.

Goodie, sorry but I have to disagree. A 4th is way too much for Branch, but no one in Patriot Nation is too upset because we have so many picks. But I think if BB could have played chicken with Carroll he could have gotten him cheaper.

I don't see how a 4th rounder can possibly be WAY too much for Branch. Branch will at the very least get on the field and most likely catch a ball. I obviously don't know but what percentage of all 4th round picks actually see any playing time but I have to believe it's less than 50% (rough guess) so even if it is a bit too much to pay (of course the jury is still out, let's see how Branch does), it can't be by much.

It's what Seattle could get for him on the open market. I doubt anyone else would offer more than a 5th, if anything at all. He was injury prone and has a high salary and is 31 and probably considered by most to have been a system receiver (not elite) for the Patriots back in his heyday.

I read an article today that compared numbers and he was just as productive in the regular season with Seattle as he was with the Pats. He just didn't put up the post season numbers. He also only missed three games less than he did when he was here.

I think a fourth rounder was about what he was worth, judging by production.

People on this forum undervalue draft picks way too much. The 4th round of the the 2007 NFL draft produced 2 pro bowlers, 10 starters and 22 players that are still on a roster in 38 picks.

So 33% arent even on a roster anymore, and we got a proven veteran plus SB MVP for one. Ill take that.

I think you were trying to dispute my point but these numbers actually make my point. I'm assuming you picked 2007 because it was one of the best fourth rounds of recent years (correct me if I'm wrong) and it still a little less than half the players never saw a snap and only about 25% are starters. Seems probably a bit above average for a 4th round but fairly standard.

I think I feel a bit better about the Branch trade now.

I picked 2007 just because it was 3 years ago. It is tough to evaluate late round draft picks before at least 3 full seasons in the NFL. When I get a chance I will take a look @ 2006.

Yikes, just doing a real quick glance at the 2006 draft there were 6 pro bowlers taken in the 4th round in addition to and including Brandon Marshall, Jahri Evans, Leon Washington, and Elvis Dumerville.

i could have sworn we had this exact same conversation when moss was traded, only pats fans were saying how valuable draft picks were.

they are valuable, but so is randy moss, and so is deion branch. When you have more draft picks than anyone else but no #1 WR why wouldnt they take a shot at seeing if these two can still have the chemistry theyve had before and won SB's with?

The Moss deal is done, I didnt like it when i heard the news but Ive come to terms with it and the more I hear about the situation the better I am with him just going now. We still need someone to take some heat off Welker and theres no reason IMO that Branch cant do what he did with Brady a few years ago.
