also - Lafell is 6'2 and has fit in nicely; 74 catches for 953 yards. Amendola is not a midget like Welker was, he can go downfield; not that generally he has been great in that role. and ldo but Gronk is a monster physically

A friend was joking about the Larry Fitz getting traded to NE (which makes no sense) and it dawned on me that besides Randy Moss I couldn't think of a single +6ft WR Brady has ever played with regularly besides Lafell this season.

all the studies I've seen say that it's a basically a crapshoot. BB was an awesome drafter, then he wasn't for a bunch of years, now in the last couple years he binked Jamie Collins and Chandler Jones and Dontae Hightower. I don't think he's good again, and I don't think he's bad at WR, I just think he's run bad there.

and I think BB agrees with the above, which is why he tends to do the optimal thing - trading down and acquiring more picks for future years. throwing more darts at the board than the other guy is the best way to ensure you hit it more times.

Lets not forget that he also drafted potentially the best TE of all time

looking forward, the implosion in Denver has to be good for us. There is now a much better chance Peyton isn't returning to Denver (or anyone), which shakes up the power in the AFC. Baltimore and Indy should be in the mix next year, but neither of these teams project to be the threat Denver has been the last 3 years

He should have just gone to the 9ers.

Somehow I don't see Manning and Jim Harbaugh as an optimum coach/QB combination. I think he had the right coach in Denver, who let him basically control how the offense worked. Just looks like he ran out of gas about 6 weeks ago.

If we're gonna talk Broncos, a great tweet from a friend of mine who's a Broncos fan, before we knew Fox was out: "We could solve two problems by making Peyton the coach."

Making PM the coach still has you losing the first round every single year. Fox might not have done any better than that but certainly did no worse than the PM average. Firing Fox is a mistake.

I don't think Brady will stick around long if Manning is done.

ROFLMAO considering Brady's already pummeled Manning into submission.

OTOH, there are a couple of QBs in the league he's never beaten and I'm sure that motivates him. If all goes as expected Sunday night, he'll have a chance to beat one of those guys on February 1.

Brady will stick around until he sucks enough that BB needs to replace him. It's that simple. When and how that will happen is left open to interpretation.

You're in the firm camp that Peyton is still Peyton, so I get this. But in that essence, hope he chooses an NFC team if that happens (he wouldn't).

Does he have an opt-out clause (other than retirement)? I don't think he's a free agent.

That being said, Arizona might look good to him IF he has the choice to leave Denver and not sit out a year.

Denver would have to release Peyton in order for him to switch teams. it's not a completely nuts scenario b/c he's due $19m but it is unlikely that he wants to play and Denver doesn't want him

Where is there anything that says:

1. He doesn't want to play or,
2. Elway doesn't want him?

They don't have an NFL ready backup. Certainly his performance tailed off at the end, but even that level of performance was better than more than half the starters in the league.

On MMQB, Greg Bedard wrote that he believes Manning still has the ability to be very good (maybe not vintage Manning good) next year.

I think we're all jumping to conclusions here.

Score predictions?

I think NE wins comfortably but I am excited to see if Luck can just beat mode his way to the SB.
Can't wait!

Forecast Sunday is moving towards torrential rains for much of the game

I think it's still a Batman Joker thing, but it will be masked {lol} by how they are both almost the same age.

From what I gather there are some differing reports on how injured Jonas Gray is. Hes been on the injury report the last couple of weeks and someone mentioned they heard he might have a high ankle sprain.

I was speaking in hypotheticals, not making predictions.

agree this is a grindingly slow week, especially after last week with so much to discuss with the Ravens game feels like this week is so vanilla.

I'll go with 27-17 Pats. Steady rain and cold causing offense to go down.
