The Pats are a very good team that have run bad. They're likely the either the 2nd or 3rd best team in the AFC, but they're digging themselves a hole that will make it tough to get out of in the playoffs.
This is all very reasonable and I certainly can't argue with any of it. I just don't look at being a fan this way. When I watch a football game that the Pats are playing in, the only way I know how to think is that they will win that game. I just don't understand watching your team and not thinking they will win. It's always so much sweeter for me when my team wins (especially when against the odds like 01 or the 04 Sox) because I know that I believed in them winning. Sports are a diversion and should be treated as such. Save being a realist for things that really matter.

or, you know, it has to do with not sounding like a clown anytime you talk about the team you root for, thinking they are God's gift to the world

First, try to make sense when you write a comment.

Second, wat?

do you see how this can be tilting for fans of opposing teams, though? i mean, i'm a boston sports fan in montreal, so i have to continuously deal with habs fans (as well as boston haters etc) who are pretty much the most tilting fans i've ever been around because they (not all of them obv, but tiltingly many) approach every faceoff/period/game/season saying "were gonna kick all your asses, all the time!" without any bit of rationality, and it makes them look, in my eyes, as demanding/hard-to-please d-bags.

i try to be reasonable with my teams, not because i don't believe in them, but because rationality makes me feel like a more educated/reasonable fan, rather than blind/delusional/easy-to-hate

but then again you didn't quote me, this is just my view on this issue

Obviously you don't know me in real life but I'm not that guy. I'm not at all beligerent or "in your face". I'm just an eternal optimist. I always look at the positive side of things and always try to find a positive spin on any situation. I happen to think I have a leg to stand on with the Pats this year though. I really do believe in this team. Now, if they lose in horrible fashion to CAR at home this week, I think I'll have to take a gulp and chill out on the positivity but that certainly won't mean that I won't think they will win the next game and still have a chance in the playoffs. It's just the way I am. I can't be a fan any other way.

lol, it makes perfect sense.

By not being some blind fan thinking that your team will win every game, you can actually have a reasonable conversation with other sports fans. Unlike you, who just sounds like a clown all the time.

Kettle: "Yes I am".

Stop trolling the Pats thread.

except I'm not even close to trolling the Pats thread. See, unlike you, I can talk about other teams with logical reasoning. I'm just trolling you because it's extremely hilarious. But I'll stop because it seems like you can't even fathom trolling, let alone another team maybe being better then the Patriots

Wow, the hostility. Must be because I called your team pathetic. I guess that was a bit harsh. I'm sorry if I hurt your fragile feelings. And although I run the risk of hurting your feelings again let me be the first to tell you that you are REALLY far from logical on this forum.

So you know, I currently believe that the Colts and Saints are most likely better teams than the Pats. However, if the pats played either one tomorrow I would go into the game thinking that the Pats would win. I realize this doesn't make sense but that's what being a fan of sports is all about. You don't have to make sense when rooting for your team. This is a diversion to everyday life and you make of it whatever you like. That's the only way it should be.

I'm gonna go one step further,
75% they make the playoffs, 50% chance of winning the 1st game, possibly 65% possibly 35% depending on whether they are the WC or the div champs, about 25% to beat the bye team, about 25% to beat the other bye team.

Between 2 and 3%, not impossible, but not likely at all

Obviously those numbers go up if they start to play a lot better, and if they win some of those games, then it means they are playing better, but still I don't see it being higher than 5% and definitely not higher than 7 or 8

also, unless NE's loss is against Carolina (in which case it will come down to a coinflip) then the Dolphins will have the 4th tiebreaker (1st 3 would be even)

the patriots won 11 games last year w/one of the softest schedules in the league. they will win 10 or 11 games this season having played one of the hardest

lol dude, you really are pathetic. it's hilarious. I should keep it up to get more comedic answers out of you.

My logical sense >x10000 from you on this forum
And LOL that you think 2 teams are "most likely better" Funny how one of them is the Colts, yet last week all you did was pimp how you think Pats > Colts.

I guess if I want to talk to Pats fans, I'll talk to Toro or KB4Z. Until then, keep having your fantasies of the Pats in the Superbowl

I love you too, Debo.

Keep supporting your team, my man. I like the passion. One day the Jets just might win something. Probably not though.

How much of a fantasy would you have thought it was in 01? I was the one laughing at the end of that one. And I will be again. I love football, such a great diversion. Especially when I can argue with yahoos like you. So enjoyable.

I used to be this way as a kid. All of us were who were Packers fans. "We'll get 'em next year." We also knew we were in for not going to super bowls but hope for playoffs. I mean you seemed as though you have the Pats the AFC's fave's right now!!!

I realize that the Pats are not the AFC favorites right now. Yet, if the Patriots played anyone tomorrow I would think they are going to win. If you knew you were in for just the playoffs, you weren't like me. I always think the pats are going to win the super bowl. That's the way I am and I don't know how to be a fan any other way. I like to believe in my team and sometimes it's irrational. However, this year I don't think I'm being all that irrational. I really do think this team will be a super bowl contender. Both in reality and in my irrational world.

Adalius Thomas seems pretty pissed about getting sent home

Quote:
Thomas, a starter in nine games this year, called ahead on a snowy Wednesday morning, as players are instructed to do when they’re going to be late, he said. Traffic was tied up and he nearly got into an accident, he said. But when he showed up about nine minutes late for an 8 a.m. team meeting, Belichick told him to leave.

That surprised him.

“You’re told to call and you call, you get sent home,” Thomas said.

“That’s not an excuse,” he said, but “I could have been in the ditch. They really don’t give a damn, honestly. As long as you ain’t in the meeting they really don’t give a (expletive).”
Quote:
“There’s a lot of things that go on that you’re dumbfounded by,” Thomas said. “I just roll with the punches.”

He scoffed at the idea that Belichick sent him home Wednesday to motivate him.

“Motivation is for kindergartners. I’m not a kindergartner,” he said. “Sending somebody home, that’s like, ‘Oh, you’re expelled,’ and come back and make good grades. Get that (expletive) out of here. That’s ridiculous.”
I can't recall a legitimate Pats contributor lashing out like this. I imagine Thomas' comments are going to be blood in the water for reporters and that they'll be hounding Randy Moss pretty hard for his take on the situation.

Personally, I think Thomas has a pretty fair gripe. If there is a nasty storm and causes accidents then what more is he supposed to do than call ahead and let them know he's stuck in traffic and going to be late? Its an act of god, cut em some slack.
