obviously you can.

But which position is more likely to start?

a 5th round WR/CB or a 5th round OG/S?

DT and OG are loaded at the top. WR has a bunch of late 1st-2nd round guys. CB is pretty weak other than Millner/Banks, and maybe Rhodes/Trufant. And Millner is the only potential stud IMO.

Who do you have in mind at safety? this class seems pretty crappy.

Later in the draft? Guard for sure. WR is another possibility.

Wright seems like a pretty good 4th rounder right now.

So the Harvin trade rumors have officially begun. I expect the Jets to be the team to overpay in draft picks for Harvin.

Jets have a similar situation looming w/ Revis... Coming off ACL, 1 yr left, cannot be franchised, wants to be highest paid defender, Jets are shopping him.

But ya I think Spielman will look for draft picks and continue the rebuild. He has to do something at WR tho, I highly doubt he's sending his QB out there in a make or break yr w/ similar WRs to last season minus Harvin.

Fine with me. We would need to restructure Allen, KWill and Winfield tho.

Thats a lot of money for 4 defensive players.

Revis does not fit the system Frazier and Williams runs. Not as much 1 on 1 coverage. My personally dream come true scenario was trading Harvin and a 3rd to AZ for Fitz. We would have to pay Harvin similar type of money. Bringing the hometown boy is would be perfect. Neither situation will happen though.

More realistic is getting as many quality draft picks for Harvin you can. Build your WR group thru the draft and not in FA. Save that money for resigning our young core of players and continue to find the diamonds in the rough(Felton). If we need to make a big splash in FA, go after a G, TE, and 2nd tier WR's.

Fitz: 8 yrs 129 million (signed a yr or so ago?). 29 yrs old
Percy: 1 yr 2.9 million. 24 yrs old

Fitz's contract makes him really hard to trade.

No question about that at all. I was just implying it would be a dream scenario to get him for a trade with PH.

I'd rather see them extend Cheech than trade him + picks for Fitz. If it was Fitz + a 3 for Harvin I might say no. That contract is monstrous.

Article just posted by Kurt Somers why Fitz will likely never be traded:

Considering his baggage, an NFL personnel man estimated that Harvin would fetch just a second- or third-round pick in return.

We are not going to keep Percy. I'd rather trade Frazier.

I like Percy, but shipping him to Cleveland would be sweet justice for this ****.

That was what I was thinking too. I'm sure he'd love to go to NE & Belichick would make great use of him. I hope we dont send him there.

A 2nd or 3rd rounder as compensation - **** you Percy.

two 3rds. But it was also immediately after that assault incident, and he was just imploding down there. Not to mention he just wasn't that productive in Miami anyway. And he was 28 in the middle of a 4year/47m contract..

If its seriously only a 2nd or a 3rd, screw him, we'll keep him for another year.

We could let him walk after next year and get a 3rd round compensatory pick ffs.

I want a first, or a package of similar value. 24 year old elite WR's under contract for 2.9 million don't hit the trading block ever.

I didnt even think about the compensatory pick. I agree - screw him. Keep him if we cant get decent value now.

I mean the 3rd round comp pick isnt guaranteed, its based on contract size and what net gain/loss in free agency. I'd say a 4th rounder is a lock (we got one each for Rice and Edwards), with a good probability at a 3rd.

But I assume if Ricky knows that he wont be signing more than we lose next year.

It also assumes Percy gets a big contract somewhere, ala VJax.

Hell, if we resign Griffen and let JA leave next year, that's almost certainly another 3rd round comp pick.

Doing a little research:

NE has few picks this year. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and two 7ths

Cincy has a ton of money and a 1st, two 2nds, 3rd, 4th, +3 later picks

Cleveland has a ton of money and a 1st, 3rd, 4th, +3 later picks

SF has a 1st, 2nd, two 3rds, 4th, +6 later picks

Miami has no WR's and a 1st, two 2nds, two 3rds, 4th, +3 later picks

Jacksonville has all their own picks in all 7 rounds.

Cleveland and Jax picks are obviously a TON more valuable due to being at the top of each round, vs NE and SF picks.
