I could definitely see Liriano becoming a dominant closerish pitcher at some time in his career.

ya, he's wild, doesn't throw hard anymore, give up homeruns, etc- what could go wrong? kerry wood v2!

His slider is one of the hardest in the league this year at 86mph average and his 91.5 average fastball is definitely harder than the avg. MLB starter. Probably around the 66th percentile.

/edit Wood is also one of the hardest throwing pitchers in baseball. I really don't know what you are talking about. His average fastball this season is 95.4mph, good enough for 10th among relievers (of 151 who qualify)

I think Liriano is going to be fine. His stuff is still nasty, he just needs to regain the command and confidence. He's also been running pretty bad imo, and I think he lets that get to him on the mound.

His body language yesterday was horrific.

They just said on TRN that the Twins are considering playing Cuddyer at 2b... wtf?

First, if you are going to move Cuddyer to the if, wouldn't he be better at 3rd w/ Crede at 2nd?

Second, is it really that important to make room for Delmon Young (presumably?).

i don't know about delmon young, but it'd be pretty nice to get kubel in and tolbert out (in an NL park)

cuddyer played a lot of 2B one year and he wasn't horrible. i mean, yeah, he's probably horrible relative to a real 2B, but it's not like he's going to cost you a lot playing one game there. he's basically like a brendan harris with even less quickness

I'm really getting sick of hearing Dan Gladden whine about Manny Ramirez. He shouldn't get to rehab in AAA until his ML suspension is up, ESPN shouldn't cover his AAA appearances, etc.

Or maybe Gomez (out).

I don't have the energy today to try to think about which arrangement would be optimal but I supposed it's probably however you get Tolbert out of the game.

Tigers win their 6th straight today. Things looking pretty gloom for the rest of the AL Central. Do you Twinkies have enough in the tank to put a decent stretch of baseball together to get back into things? Starting pitching has to be a major concern for the Minnesotians.

Nooooooooooooooooooo. Crede is so good at 3B, moving him would be insane.

Crede would probably be good at 2nd too.. They both have sick arms though so I guess it wouldn't really matter too much probably.

I'll take 3:1 on the twins winning the central if you'll lay it, name the amount

He will take 3:1 on a team that's behind 5 games? If you believe your post you should snap take the bet. Somehow I doubt you will though.

Nice win for the boys tonight. Perk pitched well. Hopefully, Gardy's smart enough to make MattyG unavailable tomorrow afternoon. Harris might be due for a day off at SS (if Punto could stay healthy enough to play a game)
