edit: ps it's atrocious that they didn't call the ball michaels missed an error. i mean, why does losing it in the lights make it not an error?
i mean, say it's up in the lights but he gives a great effort and you can't really tell that he lost it and it hits him in the glove and he drops it. they call it an error, right?
so how is it not an error when he does an even worse job and kind of pusses out and shields his face and misses it completely? why does "losing it in the lights/sun/dome" get you off the hook for an error? does "bad hop" get you off the hook? (not unless it's really bad and obvious).
if you look at the official definition, an error is supposed to be a play that is normally made that isn't made. now you might miss it for any number of reasons...bad hop, lost it, just lost concentration or slipped or whatever, but it's an error if it's a play that should be made that isn't.
