If he was out, it wasn't by much, and calling it conclusive enough to overturn the call is a pretty big stretch.

As an indication, if you read through the sweat thread in the main section you will see that most of the Michigan fans (well all except one infact) were happy to instantly admit that it was a terrible officiating decision. Ho hum.

His heel cut into the paint pretty clearly. It was close but a good call.

The angle from the sideline shows pretty clearly that the part of his foot closest to the white never actually touched. It's extremely close but they should not have overturned it.

With that said, the game's completely different if those 4 points are on the board, so Franchise's whole beef is stupid. Things play out a lot differently. The fact is, Michigan did what they needed to win the game as it was played.

Very loud. For some perspective, I've had season tickets since 2001 (student section until 2004, section 3 since then) and am one of those nerds who bring a radio so I can listen to Brandstatter and Beckman. This is the first time I was not able to hear the commentary for a bunch of stretches. Last week, I said it was louder but still not on par with other college stadiums like the Horseshoe and Notre Dame Stadium, but I think it's close now. At least when the fans are into it.

Speaking of Section 3, this is crusty old alumni land who absolutely DO NOT STAND, but we probably stood for 75% of the game today. So I wouldn't expect this environment at every game ala LSU or wherever where people go nuts even in inconsequential games or whatever.

i'm probably too gone to report too much of my day, but for reference:

i watched the game at my cousin's house during her 2-year old's birthday party. out of 30 people there, 20 had buckeye jerseys on.

by the 4th quarter, 19 of them were actually rooting for UM because they saw how much i was invested. the other 1 was my brother, because of brother-reasons.

tate is unreal. did he really lead the team down the field down 3 in a minute on national tv?

all day long i had my blue and maize 'i hate ohio state' shirt on. at my cousin's, all that happened was i had to take multiple pictures with the 20 other family members with osu shirts/jerseys on. where that changed was when i followed my other UM buddy to BW3's for the osu game. people didn't really like me there.

my GOD the future is good. i actually made several osu fans admit that today. Tate is not human.

my UM buddy and i were arguing about all-time memorable wins...we've both been 'around' since the late 80's/early 90's, and we spent 20 minutes arguing about this game vs. the penn state mario manningham last second catch game. we're probably biased as we both watched mario all high school, but in terms of excitement in the last few years, what else beats tonight?

because i'm a man, and a man that apparently intimidates other men, the BW-3 people talked **** to me about my shirt, but even with a group of them standing together, they would all eventually admit to the fact that a) their reign is soon to be over, b) senator tressel is not as good of a coach as RRod, and c) their penises are small.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUE.

i'm not one of those fans that sees 12-0 (or ammmm i?), but 9-3, which is TOTALLY achievable, would be unreal.

also, fwiw, i'm done saying 'freshman QB'. yes he threw a pick today, but i'm still pretty sure he just read that faster than the WR.

Tate is a top 10 QB in the nation. pleeease debate that.

such a good day.

The comeback in 2004 against MSU with multiple braylon bombs with a freshman henne/hart is still my favorite.

the text message that i sent to 8 of my osu fan friends:

'Hootie-Hoo'

that may need you to know Outkast, but even if you don't, you get the gist of it..

HA!

actually, that came up in our conversation of the recently sickest games...thing was, the PSU game we both had sick stories, and today just happened today.

i remember that game clearly as well...it just didn't fit into the top 2 because of the circumstance of the PSU game (we both broke out because of the fact that we both had spent time with Mario, and a last-play win is sick) and today's game happened, well, today.

the dropped pass in the endzone with :15 left literally caused my heart to stop.

the caught pass in the endzone with :10 left literally caused my heart to stop.

luckily, i had drank enough by that point to jump-start myself.

That being said, I am very excited. He is a great athlete but his passing technique was a bit raw. He showed up at the E11 and kicked ass. Whatever technique issues were there appear to have been largely corrected, and that's before he's even gotten to college. He's going to be very good. And so is Tate.

I think DR may ultimately have to move to slot or something. But this will be a nice problem to have, especially after last year.
What was Tate ranked in his recruiting class?

UM is going to have to find a way to solve their defensive backfield issues if they want to keep this going. I would think that teams will watch this tape and repeatedly go after the DB's. Nice win, though. I know you're enjoying it.

They'll go after one DB, Cissoko. He's just so short. He's no Darrell Green, that's for sure. He can be decent when he's not matched up against a guy about 8 inches taller. Justin Turner cannot grow up fast enough.

You can but certainly don't have to go exclusively at Cissoko.

Warren is a good corner but let's face it he's not great. He simply doesn't have the speed to make up for some of the things he does. Woolfolk has speed but hasn't proven anything and after Williams got hurt - not that he's a coverage guy - we had an anonymous white dude (racist ban ldo) at the other safety. There are no lockdown guys back there.

You can still beat this defense throwing with any kind of accurate QB as long as you give him time. The key is going to be to get pressure, they can't just hope that Graham and Roh will get there.

Guys, let's not forget that ND probably has the best passing attack, specifically the best down the field passing attack, that we'll see all year. Most Big 10 teams don't have the kind of combination of speed and size that ND's WRs do.
Michigan Football: HARBAUGH Quote
09-13-2009 , 11:06 AM
Yeah, I'm not that worried at all about our corners. They went up against two great WR, a very good QB, and one who had all day to throw. The way football is, that's a match-up the WR is going to win much of the time under those circumstances. It was rougher on Cissoko as I think Warren was pretty good in coverage, mostly running right with the WR, but like on the TD where he leapt out of the building...what are you gonna do? So Warren isn't Woodson. Hardly means it is an issue.

Again, not going to see a passing game that good again this year. That part does not worry me.

The lack of pressure and getting gashed in the running game is worrisome, though. It'll be interesting to see how good ND's line is going forward.

I have to give RichRod credit... he made the better adjustments at halftime
He also made better playcalls in the 1st half. The Irish should have built a much bigger lead than 20-17 early, but Weis screwed some things up and Michigan got the most they could out of it all. IMO, ND is the better team, but RichRod's coaching over Weis did make the difference in the tight ball game.

It does appear that we'll be watching Michigan try to outscore a lot of teams this year. It should be fun to watch.

Illinois is equal to ND in that respect if Zook/Schultz are not morons. But, your point remains valid. Most 'experts' have ND's receivers in the top 2-3 in the country.

A few observations at the end of the game. The ball that Savoy "dropped" in the end zone really can't be called that. The ND CB got a finger on the ball. I know if UM doesn't score and losses that game, some fans would have considered him a goat, but that was a very tough catch after the flight path of the ball is altered. Savoy deserves credit for coming up with a few key catches after years of patience-waiting for his turn.

Great job by Brandon Minor picking up a few blitzes on that last drive, especially on that TD pass to Matthews. He absolutely stiffs ND's Smith (I think it was #58).

Agree with everyone else about Cissoko. He was torched, but as long as it doesn't destroy his confidence, there is no reason he can't be a decent corner the rest of the year considering he is not going to be facing Floyd and Tate every week. The Floyd TD against Warren in the back right of the endzone was sick. Floyd's feet were waist high on Warren when he made that catch. No corner who ever lived could possibly defend that.

I can't get over how well Forcier is able to roll to his left being pursued by the rush, know exactly where the line of scrimmage is, avoid crossing it while waiting for the receiver to get open, then throw a great touch pass.

Hopefully D-Robinson gets a chance to get some reps this week, especially in the passing game. I would love to see him get a few completions just to keep defenses honest in the future when he is in the shotgun.

Michigan won't face a better vertical passing attack then Notre Dame all year even if they somehow lucksack out their schedule and play in the BCS championship game. I had to keep reminding myself that the corners won't ever get raped like this again this year, but yeah it was badddd.

This win leaves the door open to soooo many more possibilities that wouldn't of been open with a 1-1 start. So happy RRod can shake the haters off for awhile.

MAY THE FORCIER BE WITH YOU!!!!

hell of a game yesterday. Incredible moxy by the frosh after throwing that pick to come back and lead us to victory. Definately one of the better games I have ever been at. I will say that i can't wait for the day that we have another absolute stud at corner. I miss the days of Marlin Jackson or even Leon Hall.
