FMLFMLFML.

I left at halftime cause I was hammered and couldn't stand to see our offense continue its ineptitude.

Brag: Michigan Won and I'm way more drunk than I would be if I stayed at the game
Beat: Left probably the best game I'm likely to see in my four years at halftime
Variance: I got nothin, maybe I'll get laid tonight

BEEN ****faced...i would've qualified at 5pm or so...

on a sober note, i really could not be happier with the progress we're showing...

11 turnovers in 2 games, but yet our boys will NOT die in the 2nd half. would've been very easy today.

as an aside, during the 3rd quarter, my buddy and i began offhandedly discussing politics...then, we scored. being ridiculously superstitious, my other buddy told us that we HAD to keep talking politics so that we wouldn't lose momentum....

that led to us screaming "SARAH PAAALIN, OMG, GEEEEOORGE BUUUSH' on the 2-point conversion....

and since when do we get lucky enough to take those 2 points off the board, and stop the do-over????

pls 1time to be giving us breaks.

I'm definitely not looking forward to playing you guys if you keep improving. A lot of your misfortune this season has been due to mistakes that can be corrected. Ohio State and Michigan will be two of the most improved teams by the end of the season.

Penn St. plays Wisconsin, Michigan, then Ohio State. Michigan could very well catch them in a trap game and be well improved by then. The last game of the season could very well be a run for the roses...

Seriously, if Michigan stops turning over the ****ing ball like crazy, a lot of our problems will go away. Wisconsin did pretty much next to nothing on offense when not given sick field position.

dude...it's not just that...imagine this offense with a tiny bit of an offensive line and a dual-threat quarterback..

how many downfield passes were open today, and the pass was way off?

how many times did McG get swallowed up .5 seconds after getting the ball?

how in the world is steven threet running 70 yards straight up the middle??

picture having players, and running good...this is our future as Michigan fans..

Oh I agree about the future, but just for this year, if we take care of the ball, sooooo many issues go away immediately.

So I went to the game today, and it reminded me a lot of MSU 2004. MSU came into town as a favorite, and our young offense had been very inconsistent. We seemed to fall apart at first, but our new quarterback pulled his **** together and pulled out a great victory.

That game was the loudest I've even experienced in the big house, and that is coming from someone who attended MSU 2004 and the PSU comeback game. My right ear still isn't working properly.

Did we really win that game? Really?

I love how in one game we go from unlikely to win a bowl game in the eyes of most to possible Rose Bowl contenders. Michigan is still a long way from being a Big 10 championship contender.

Not to nitpick but Michigan was 6 or 7-1 and State was 4-3 that year. No way were they favored. It did feel similar, but having been at both (and having left neither at halftime), State was much better.

I did turn off the Water Buffalo Stampede game in Minnesota in 2003 to go to Canada and drink (being 20), and when I called my friend to ask for the final score and she told me we won, I told her to stop lying and hung up on her.

That was f***ing sweet though, at halftime I thought for sure we were headed for a Notre Dame-like season of doom, but now I feel much better. We needed a split in the next 2 to have any hope for a bowl. Now we're on a freeroll. Win against Illinois and we have some margin for error, not to mention the rumblings of crazy fantasies about winning the Big Ten.

I'll enjoy this for now though.

man.... I just hate to be in a position (living out of the country) where it is not the easiest to follow UM football, but christ, was I happy today. I was following ESPN tracker thing for the first half and afterwards just said well ****, another one down. I went to play soccer with some friends and seriously almost **** my pants when I saw the score. I haven't seen any highlights but it brought back memories of my freshman year (2000) when we came back when David Terrel made that awesome catch and we won 13-10 (I think). God Damn, great times.

A few football points:

1. Tim Jamison is an absolute beast. He was so awesome yesterday in the second half- he got into the backfield on every single pass play, and both of Graham's sacks were plays where Jamison got there first.

2. Donovan Warren is awesome. He is approaching Woodson-ness in terms of coverage quality. His tackling is superb (seriously, can he please give Trent tackling lessons?) and he is like never out of position. He is terrible at returning kicks, but he seems to be done with that.

3. Kick returning is a complete disaster. What the **** are our returners doing carrying the ball in their inside arm? Don't they teach every football player on earth not to do that in, like, Pop Warner?

4. Our Wide Receivers had a pretty terrible game. Greg Matthews is the best, I guess, but he quits on plays and doesn't have explosive speed. The other guys (Odoms, Hemmingway, Stonum) all seem fast and athletic but their route running is terrible and they routinely drop passes.

5. Michigan played well in the 2nd half, but man were they lucky. Wisconsin receivers dropped a number of easy catches. And penalties. The roughing the passer call saved the game for Michigan, and of course the 2-pt call was crucial (although 100% legitimate).

6. The Big House was definitely rocking, but that wasn't the loudest I've experienced. '97 tOSU still wins that one for me.

Also it cracked me up that at the end of Threet's long run he started hugging the ball with both hands and holding it right on his chest. You knew exactly what was going through his mind: "Rich is going to ****ing kill me if I fumble this ball."

If Threet scored on that play I would have creamed myself.

1. Just watched RRod's weekly show. Loving him more and more. The Phelps pregame speech was pretty LOL bad.

2. In case there is anyone not yet aware of mgoblog.com, it is probably the best CFB blog out there. Awesome.

I meant to post this a few days ago, but we got some sick recruits for 2010.

Ricardo Miller is apparently one of the top 5 players in Florida and could potentially be the best WR in the entire 2010 class. He's really, really good with confirmed offers from Florida and Tennessee. Rivals also lists ND, OSU, PSU, and Auburn amongst others. He's a high 4 star to 5 star guy, although committing this early might make it less likely he gets the fifth star.

Jeremey Jackson is Fred Jackson's (RB coach) son and is another great WR. His rivals page lists Nebraska, Florida, UNC, Louisville and some middling Big 10/MAC schools. Based on what I've read, he seems like a solid 4 star type.

Marvin Robinson hasn't actually committed, but the sources are pretty solid. He told OSU (apparently his second favorite) to stop recruiting him, and has made some comments about going to UM. His half-brother is a JUCO guy who wrote something on his Myspace about following Marvin to UM, probably as a walk-on. Marvin is up there for the #1 safety in Florida, which is meaningful, and probably in the high four star to five star range, but all my star guesses are just that, guesses. His rivals site lists us, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, OSU, USC, Tennessee, UCLA, and VA Tech. Really impressive.

Edit: Robinson is also on the front page of UM's Rivals site talking about when he might make his decision. It's a subscriber-only article, but still.

There's got to be something wrong with the way Threet throws the ball. He's so up and down and it takes forever for him to get into a rhythm.

WTF is up with all of these Illini receivers being wide open down field over and over? The D is giving up almost 25 yards a catch.

I wish the offense would show up for four quarters just one time.

The o-line has actually managed to take a step backwards. This is the first week they were all healthy, too.

What a giant cluster****. After it was 14-3, we got outscored 42-6. We gave up 501 total yards. Williams averaged 24 yards per completion. The offensive line didn't open up running lanes, we continue to fumble the ball at a ridiculous pace, we didn't tackle well, the safeties continue to take horrible angles, Threet is widely erratic, we missed an extra point.

Very few positives emerged, but to find them, Odoms continues to develop as a go to receiver with 129 yards. Other than the fumble, he had a really good day returning kicks as well. Mesko also had a good day punting.

I wish we would have tried Koger more. He had a TD last week and one called back by a penalty today. He looks like he could develop into much needed receiving weapon.

I'm really dreading the PSU game in two weeks. I am sure they will be ready to dish out some revenge from their futility against us in recent years. That one could get ugly without major UM improvements.
