Yea I don't let CROOTIN rule over me, and don't let young guys decisions affect me.

But you got to admit it's fairly fun with harbaugh!

I started rewatching the game because why not and I have developed a (probably wrong) theory -- Speight was dinged up earlier in the game. If you watch the first quarter and a half, his throws are crisp and accurate. He overthrows Darboh by a step on a bomb, but it's not a bad throw. Other stuff is right on the money. The overturned TD to Darboh was right where it needed to be.

And then he runs into Isaac handing the ball off on the TD run and lands awkwardly.

After that fall, his throws are ducks. I haven't rewatched the 2nd half yet but the rest of the first half is awful. Turfed balls. Bombs that are woefully underthrown. No zip. Makes me think he sprained a wrist or shoulder and tried to play through it.

Like I said, probably wrong, but it's quite a contrast.

Interesting. Wonder what the UFR will show

There are some throws that are good enough in the 2nd half to make me not as sure. But still possible, since even the best 2nd half throws aren't close to Speight's best.

Also: Mone should get a terrible UFR grade, he was awful when he was in.

I hate the offensive playcalling less on rewatch. Sometimes things just didn't work as they should. One exception is the toss left to Higdon that gets killed -- I hate having JBB in there as an extra OL. Asiasi is a much better blocker and at least something of a threat to go downfield. Wheatley is probably a better blocker too ffs.

Win or go home for the Michigan and Ohio St game

sucks that OSU gets a bye into the playoffs if they win and don't have to play the BIG championship game

yes, but if we'd just beaten Iowa we could have lost to them then probably still made it if it was any kind of close game

so

I think if Michigan beats Iowa, then the rankings are

1 bama
2 um
3 osu

I think even in this spot, if we lose to OSU, and OSU goes to title game and beats WISC, UM isn't getting spot 3/4 over 1 loss washington PAC12 champ, or 1 loss ACC champ

Could be wrong though.

Lets beat IU by 22.5 and then beat OSU and it's a non issue

I don't think you're wrong, but that is about the only scenario where that happens and an 11-1 Michigan gets left out -- and I think it'd be one hell of a close fight vs. Washington.

Washington won't be in the fight. They have to play @Wash St, and then play probably Colorado in the Championship game. They probably only have a 30% probability of winning out. Of course none of this matters cuz we lost to Iowa.

so if Penn St played Central Michigan University 4 times, and went 4-0 in conference play, the would be a lock for the playoffs if they won the big 10.

but because they are 11-2 (8-1) they are going to get left out to an OSU team that they beat because they lost to PITT? (assuming PSU wins out and OSU beats UM)

In this day and age, why even schedule a tough NC opponent, just roll 3-0 every year in the NC play

It's always been a sort by records beauty contest, and people have always pretended it wasn't.

This makes no sense. No one would be advocating for OSU>PSU if OSU didn't crush OU in Norman.

Why don't we wait and see who gets left out?

PSU is going to struggle to get into the conversation with their current OL. If they get lucky against MSU and Wisconsin, I think they have a good chance of getting the nod ahead of OSU since OSU won't be playing that weekend and they would have beat another top 10 team in Wisconsin. If Wisconsin wins the B1G, I could see OSU staying on top more easily because they beat Wisconsin H2H.

I fully expect the winner of Wis-PSU to be ranked top 5 in the AP. It would be hard to leave that team out of the CFP.

they'd be 11-2 and get in over a 10-2 Michigan team that beat them 49-10 in that scenario

If tOhio State wins out they will be in 103% of the time. Any prediction that doesn't get this should be laughed at. They will be ranked at least #2 and have the best record in the B1G and the same or better record than everyone relevant in college football save Bama. This year is not at all analogous to last year when Ohio State got ****ed. The only thing left to speculate about is whether PSU/WIS winner also gets in. And **** if I know. For now just keep rooting for other 1 loss teams to lose. Go Houston tomorrow.

Embarrassed to say, Bo dying was like my grandpa dying. It actually hurt. Bo dying before the 06 game is probably the best proof you can have of a godless universe or at least one ruled by a capriciously cruel god.

...or maybe that there IS a God, and he/she/it benevolently let him pass away so he didn't have to go through watching that game. heh

but yeah, awful, awful timing. :-(

Sports is still 90% anticipation tho. Plus with Bo alive they may have won. After Bo died I swear the team didnt look quite right but that may all be in my head.

IDK, I don't see how the players were that affected by Bo's passing, he wasn't their coach. He was a Michigan legend but for 18-22 year olds, I don't think it mattered.

I don't bet on sports but if I did I'd be real tempted to take IU and the points. I just don't know if we have enough of a running game to crush, recent signs point toward no.
