Claimed Marty Gilyard, WR, from Rams; Center Colin Baxter from Chargers; Safety Andrew Sendejo from Dallas and Kevin O'Connell will be the third QB this year.

wow really thought maybin was gonna be on the team. was just reading this morning how he had secured a spot.

Any case Maybin wasn't this huge shining star during the pre and I think after the Vern experiments Rex figured to cut his losses early on this one.

For the first time in a long time I am worried about our O line though, a lot of Nacho's development and obv our run game hinges on the stability of it. With out quality backups ( which we are lacking, in fact do we even have an official back up center ?my guess its just the long snapper at this point) it's going to be sad times if more then one ever goes down.

maybin certainly didnt look like a star in the preseason, he was just using his elite speed against backup level players and even they were able to show that he doesnt have very much upper body strength for an edge rusher

it looked like they were going to keep him, but i guess they view gilyard as a better, fresher prospect

I wouldn't be surprised to see Sendejo get cut after the Dallas game and us bring Maybin back if he isn't signed already. I mean if Rex called his brother and asked if he was any good Rob would have said the guy sucked anyway-he isn't going to help Rex at his teams expense. He signed him just to get info on Dallas.

How much would we have paid Maybin for his few weeks during preseason?

Players get a per diem for the preseason, like 500 bucks a week. Maybin probably signed for the minimum if he made the team.

Gibby, I believe when we claimed Maybin we were responsible for the contract he negotiated with Buffalo. Now that we cut him and no other team claimed him we are free to sign him for whatever. Also if you sign veterans after the first week their contracts are not guaranteed. It wouldn't surprise me to see us sign Maybin after the Dallas game.

I believe he was a free agent signing not a waiver claim. And The guaranteed salary is only for vets with a certain number of years in the league (I think at least 5, but not sure).

Maybin was released 8/15, cleared waivers and was signed by the Jets on the 17th.

I coulda swore we got him off waivers, no biggie.

Unbelievable start to the season. I like what I saw from the passing game tonight and I don't think it will take long for Plaxico's rust to wear off. Holmes and Burress are going to make an excellent 1-2 punch. As the OL goes, so will the offense though...
