He now has a .689 OPS. I think if he stays at low A for the remainder of this season, which he probably will, his OPS finishes really close to .800.

Tigers have acquired LHP David Purcey from Oakland for Scott Sizemore. Tigers have recalled Danny Worth from Toledo.

Sounds promising maybe?

Bleh, a 29 year old mediocre relief pitcher who's being traded for the second time in two months doesn't scream "promising" to me. That sounds like "giving up on Sizemore" to me.

Ya, realized that after i looked him up, but hey any bullpen help should be good with how bad ours has been doing, although seems like Oak got the better end of this deal

edit: Dombrowski said they've tried to get Purcey since last winter, and they didn't feel Sizemore was getting over the offensive hump.

I still don't see Purcey being that great, but it's a LHP in the bullpen at least

That looks awful to me at first glance. It's only good if worth ~= Scotty, which I jutting think is true at all.

This trade makes sense if the Tigers want to convert Purcey to a starter in 2012 (or maybe later this year, even). Otherwise... it's pretty damn stupid.

Leyland talked last night about Raburn....
"I think you can safely say he's going to be the 2nd baseman."
"To me, Raburn's season starts tomorrow."

Purcey was a starter in 10 and 09, so it's really not that far fetched. Seems like this deal, at a minimum, adds depth to the pitching staff.

We do have a ton of people who can play second base (Worth, Rhymes, Santiago, Raburn) at a mediocre to bad level. I thought scotty would eventually get his **** together, but it looks like we're giving up on him.

I completely forgot about Raburn....... hrmmm. Makes me like the deal a lot more tbh, if he's going to stick at second base. He's been a slightly above average hitter over his career, and that type of bat is pretty good for a second baseman atm.
