Not having to leave the state of Texas for the playoffs excites me

Wow so they wont play a meaningful game until Jan. 14th or 15th. Not sure how I feel about that.

Based on the health of the D Michael, you should feel fortunate. I think the core of this team minus Dak/Zeke knows what it's like to fall short. I don't think with guys like Lee/Witten/Dez being so vocal in their groups that the guys will have a hard time getting fired up for their first playoff game.

Really hope Mo Claiborne can come back in time to play at least a little against the Eagles to make sure he's OK at game speed. Supposedly he's been sore after heavy workouts and still not cleared to practice, but hopeful for week 17.

If we get him back playing like he was, and if Irving/Gregory can actually create a legit pass rush, then I'm much more optimistic about how far we can go.

Yeah, Lawence needs days off, I'm sure Lee does what with this many games being almost unheard of for him. Scandrick for sure needs rest. The Oline is beat up also.

Also means on the other side of the ball that La'el Collins could get some lower pressure snaps maybe week 17 in to ease back. Remember that guy? Man can't wait for him back too. Anyone know where he's at?

I think they're still expecting Collins to be back for the playoffs, but I don't think Leary is that much of a dropoff. The more healthy bodies the better, of course.

I just think subbing in bodies like that on long drives has got to be so punishing on D-tackles. Seems like a great way to win the trench war.

Really? Prescott has third highest QB rating in the NFL and Bryant has missed a lot of PT. The Cowboys have clinched the number one seed in the NFC with two games to go. That automatically puts the QB in the MVP the conversation.

And I'll honestly be thrilled if we win more than one playoff game. We're OK, but we're not dominant by any stretch. A couple of different bounces here and there throughout the season, and we're sitting at 8-6 and fighting for the 6 seed right now.
Simple question, the truly dominant teams in the NFL this year are?

Of the team, sure, the way things have gone Dak and Zeke are gonna be #1 and #2 in some order and I'm fine with either. I just think Dak has a lot of holes in his game and there's a chance he could come up real small in the playoffs against a good game plan. And then regress back to the mean next year. I obviously hope he turns out to be ****ing awesome, but I'm very very cautious with my optimism.

Point taken. Lot of Jekyll and Hyde teams in the NFC. Seattle, GB and Atlanta all can be scary as hell when they have their **** together but head-scratching otherwise. Lions don't seem that great but pull out 4Q comebacks like clockwork. Giants are obviously a huge headache for us matchup-wise and just seem to have our number. My take is that we're maybe a tick above the pack in the conference, and very possibly objectively worse than NE, Oakland and KC (although if we make it to the Super Bowl I'll be thrilled, and we'll worry about that then).

There aren't any elite teams, and Dallas has a reasonably healthy squad with a bye and homefield advantage. AND depth at QB and RB. That's as good a chance as you can make for yourself.

And don't overthink the next few weeks, of course you take advantage of the break and rest/heal up. This team won 11 of their 1st 12 games with shiny new rookies at QB and RB - they don't need a running start. You don't want to lose quality players like Tyron Smith or Sean Lee for this playoff run on the poorly-supported idea that you have to stay warm. If eliminated I know it would be second-guessed either way, but I'd rather not get cute and field as healthy and complete a squad as possible. If they can't win a playoff game as the 1 seed, "too much rest" won't be the cause.

Still can't believe the Cowboys locked up the #1 seed and HF advantage with two weeks to go... Never in my wildest dreams when the season began... Just hoping we can avoid the Giants (though there's no reason we shouldn't be able to beat them should it happen)

I'm kind of hoping we don't avoid the Giants. I want to beat them in the NFC Championship. I still think our best on their best we beat them. They also happen to have lost 2 of their best now.

Whoever comes out of the AFC is going to be a great team. I think the mental boost of slaying the dragon at home before the SB would be huge. And it can be done. The Giants pass rush can be beat if we go back to Cole. No idea why they stopped, but imho PA on 1st down, more Cole on downs like 2nd and 10, less penalties and gimmicks and they can be beat. Eli is awful.

Pretty much the GOAT season for a rookie QB. Even Rodgers didn't do as well in his first year starting (not saying he'll be as good as Godgers don't kill me). What a bink in the 4th round holy ****.

The supporting cast is really good of course but this would be a career year for someone like Matt Hasselbeck who had some really good supporting casts. Carr has a better pass blocking o-line and better receivers and worse numbers so I'm not even sure that argument has any merit.

Big Rape's rookie season is weird he had a really high y/a but less than 300 attempts on the season since he missed 2 games and one of the GOAT defenses so not sure how to compare. Dak's season seems clearly better though.

People will for sure hate on him for awhile because he's 1. A Cowboy and 2. A Black QB and QB is a white man's position but oh well haters gon hate. No one has ever done what he's doing really and it can't just be brushed off by saying he has Zeke and a good o-line.

What holes in his game are referring to? I don't see any. MVP of the team with the best record ansolutely puts you in the MVP conversation. The only reason I've read and heard is that he is a rookie. So friggen what? That's BS. Btw I am a Packer fan. I saw Prescott play in pre-season and couldn't believe what I was seeing. It doesn't surprise me at all he has been as successful as he has been. How the hell did this guy ever make it the 4th round? A good case can be made for Brady but the Pats were 3-1 without him. Matt Ryan, Elliot, and Rodgers are contenders.

FWIW, I don't know if it is the surface at AT&T but the Cowboys D really flies to the football, they seemingly have great team speed on D. Not a dominant D but I say they are D on the rise.

Their defense just plays with effort. And Sean Lee is such a freak he plugs a lot of holes.

If Irving continues his dominance, especially late in the game, watch out.

Just one man's opinion, but this weekend I think we want:

1) Skins beat the Giants. Both teams beat the piss out of each other, both make the playoffs. Beast is the class of the NFC.

2) Lions beat the Packers, win that division. Too little too late for Pack

3) Falcons expend a lot of man power to beat the Saints for the second home field, and Julio hurts himself again

Gives us:

Cowboys/Falcons bye
Giants @ Seahawks --> Seahawks
Skins @ Lions --> probably a flip, we probably want the Lions

So we'd get one of the Giants/Skins/Seahawks there. All really good games, all games if we don't take penalties we should win. But not a pushover in the bunch. Exciting.

Would you take Redskins in the 1st game and Falcons at home for the NFC championship?

Snap accept from me. Would score at will against those two D's. Our D could come up with enough stops to win.
