And what universe can we afford Dez AND DT? Didn't they tag DT ?

So Melton and Durant are gone, did I see that correctly?

Btw anyone surprised by Buffalo giving Shady that much money while Murray is apparently finding out that 9-10m is not going to happen? All reports are that Murray is getting nowhere close to what he thought he might be worth. Can we afford him at 7m?

Btw consider me PUMPED the Eagles got Mathews. I look forward to the 8 games he plays per year.

Also lol at these Murray Eagles rumors. So they have Matthews and Sproles, and Murray would just go there to spite us? lol.

Jags and Raiders going to offer the most $. Gonna be really funny if he goes to the Raiders. He'll be the next DMC in 1 year.

Also the runnin tally now is Melton, Durant and Carter all gone.

Yes, I don't really see them signing a pricey running back unless it's Murray. I'm sure there's some interest in AP, but the price has to be right and they wouldn't give up all that much as far as draft picks for him I don't think.

And if they lose Murray like I expect they will, they may just sit tight until after the draft. maybe the guy they really like will be available where they want him, and if not they can see who shakes free on June 1.

But I don't see them giving 4 million a year to a free-agent back we haven't discussed. Of course I don't know what their personnel department thinks of the guys that are out there now, if they're really high on somebody anything can happen. I mean who predicted Nate Livings?

Thomas? Dream on. You don't like having TWill as the #2, for about 1/20th the price?

No rumors of Spiller to us (and good riddance), so where are we at?

Vereen, Matthews, Helu, Ingram, Gore, Antone Smith (yay) are all out. I got off the top of my head:

Moreno, R Bush, SJax (lol), Pierre Thomas, Ridley, Bradshaw, and then miles and miles of aids.

I guess DeAngelo and Forsett might be out there? I dunno, it's not particularly pretty. The guys I kind of liked are gone (Ingram, Vereen, Helu).

I am in awe that the Jags gave Jeremy Parnell a $32 million contract. Lulz.

There's another DT on the Broncos right? Was just trolling with Demaryius Thomas

Best teams usually just sit tight during the beginning free agency period. Sit tight and seek out the bargains.

Really hope that Demarco signs with Philly now and this whole thing is over.

So much wasted breath over a damn running back.

Why sign any RBs? They just gave Ryan Williams a 2-year deal, tendered a COP type in Dunbar, and Dumbass has two years left (big concern, but might have some talent). Commit to any name back now and what happens if there's one of your higher-rated guys waiting for you in the late 2nd round? And if nothing works out in the draft then you can sign somebody during league cuts.

At some point they're going to have to wing it some starting spots with old vets, injury reclamations or nobody randoms. Or unproven rookies. I'd much rather they do that winging it at the tailback position.

You can yell at me later if they're all terrible and run for 3.4 ypc all season.

It's only one day in but I like the way this FA period is going so far at least. Haven't screwed with Romo's deal (yet), and the guys they're losing are getting pretty good deals. They could potentially wind up with a couple okay picks next year if they can show some restraint. OBV you don't pass up a decent value FA for the sake of a meh compensatory pick but it's a nice extra if you can get it.

Murray's almost certainly a 3rd, Parnell probably a 4th, Carter could be a 4th-5th, Harris a 5th-6th. Those on 1-year deals or min salary are exempt I think and obv any comparable free agent signings will offset losses and kill a pick.

If Ridley is healthy he would run for 1500 yards behind that line. Of course, he might also fumble 5 times.

Sounds like the Raiders were never a real option, and Jags dropped out.

It's down to the Eagles, and us, which means it's the Eagles. I don't think that really bothers me as much as it once did. They've just done so much to nuke their own franchise. Signing Matthews and Murray while trading away Shady? Meh, go for it guys.

I don't disagree. But patience and getting Moreno for 1 year really cheap isn't a bad thing. He can pass block very well, he can catch, he can run a bit. I wouldn't mind that kind of guy at like 1.5m.

I find it funny that Murray was somehow offended in all this. Has he no clue of the cap constraints of this team?

He shouldn't be offered even if they weren't. Take the best offer you get. If that's somewhere else, so be it.

I think that was mostly media stuff. Yeah the Cowboys leaned heavily on him last season but that's his job, and the kind of opportunity most young NFL backs would love to get in a contract year. Oh, and behind a top o-line with an excellent QB, WR, TE surrounding him.

If he split carries with Randle or someone else all season he wouldn't be an All-Pro now, wouldn't have gone in the record books for breaking Emmitt's single-season record, and wouldn't be looking at near the kind of contract the Eagles just gave him. Being mad or feeling spurned would be silly.

Of course business comes first for short-lived RBs. But in his shoes not only would I not be mad, I'd probably take an ad out in the Dallas Morning News to say thanks. Thanks for drafting me despite injury concerns and not being an every-down back in college, making almost no effort to bring in competition while I was here, not murdering me for my fumbling issues because I hold the ball like it's on fire, etc.

Well she wasn't 8.4m hot, that's for sure. 8-12 was the range nobody here wanted to see.

It was Shady before, now it's Murray .For me it's the same difference, we're getting gashed either way.

That's pretty much it.

Anybody thinking non-casual Dallas fans are butthurt by this should review thread history and the responses at BTB. Once it was clear Murray couldn't be re-signed for what he's actually worth, which most of us figured out halfway through the season, the best possible result was for someone to overpay the hell out of him. Better a division rival, and thanks for the 3rd round pick btw.

Cowboys just put almost exactly the same money into keeping a 31-year-old right tackle and a 5' 8" slot receiver. Who I expected would walk in the first case, and tendered for $2m in the second case. For Dallas to find $8.4m/year deals for them and not Murray (and without a clear RB replacement on the roster) says about where they value him and the position.

I think he's a good player who had a great year. If he can secure the ball better and stay healthy I'm sure he'll be an asset for a while but imo the Eagles drastically overpaid. To say nothing of the strong trend of higher-priced veteran FA deals going sour. The average team spent $4.5m million on their RB corps last year, they Eagles are up to how much now?

Yeah they spend more on RBs, but it's also a chip Kelly offense where having good RBs is more important
