That's pretty much it.
Anybody thinking non-casual Dallas fans are butthurt by this should review thread history and the responses at BTB. Once it was clear Murray couldn't be re-signed for what he's actually worth, which most of us figured out halfway through the season, the best possible result was for someone to overpay the hell out of him. Better a division rival, and thanks for the 3rd round pick btw.
Cowboys just put almost exactly the same money into keeping a 31-year-old right tackle and a 5' 8" slot receiver. Who I expected would walk in the first case, and tendered for $2m in the second case. For Dallas to find $8.4m/year deals for them and not Murray (and without a clear RB replacement on the roster) says about where they value him and the position.
I think he's a good player who had a great year. If he can secure the ball better and stay healthy I'm sure he'll be an asset for a while but imo the Eagles drastically overpaid. To say nothing of the strong trend of higher-priced veteran FA deals going sour. The average team spent $4.5m million on their RB corps last year, they Eagles are up to how much now?
