They held the Titans to 10, pretty sure they could hold one of the Jags/Texans/Giants to under 24.

.... Maybe.

Ya with Henne I would have agreed, but I think Bortles is gonna be good for the Jags. Giants should make the 24 too. Texans is the one that could indeed go under.

But if all these LB/DT's and their groins stay hurt, it's gonna be all over 34, lol

Melton's groin also hurt now, if you haven't all heard...

You'd think with all of these discount and deep-draft players getting a shot some surprise talent will emerge somewhere. T. Crawford and R. McClain look hopeful and Moore is doing okay at CB. The problem with all those guys is two have expiring contracts and Crawford's deal is only one more season.

I'd really like to know if there's starter potential in Moore. He seems to play well when he gets the rare opportunity, but you can't really be a depth DB and not play on special teams. If he could at least man the slot CB role with Scandrick moving outside you could overlook it somewhat.

Claiborne needs to be on the bench. Whether he's hurt or a bust or both he's not one of the top 3 corners on the squad right now based on anything I can see. There's almost no way they could be worse off with Scandrick in his place and Moore in the slot, with Claiborne playing special teams. Watch him on the replay, it's just brutal.

Watching again now by the way trying to look at the DBs and LBs on defense. Outside of Scandrick being alright I'm not seeing really anything worth getting excited about. Hitchens looks good on the stat sheet but I don't see what people are raving about. These writers see one or two good plays or just go off the stat sheet and just completely ignore the rest. Nominated for Rookie of the Week?!?

Does anybody else have a copy of the game? Up until the 4th down stop (good play) please, somebody else tell me what they see when watching #59. Maybe I need a new set of eyes or something.

And guess how I feel about this. Maybe he'll retire and pay back some of that cap space.

Be more of a bitch somehow

So I think New Orleans is going to annihilate the Cowboys' defense this coming week.

Their defense is pretty sorry too, but not on the same scale. I'd like to assume a shootout except I'm worried by the way Romo's playing, and Murray's turnovers. Hoping to see the offense emerge here and look the way they should. If they can't get 30+ against that group then buckle in.

I think so too, which means we'll force 4 turnovers. I've been batting like .500 at best on how our D performs. And every time I was wrong and our D actually does something, Romo throws 3 picks and Murray fumbles. So I'm still expecting a loss, just maybe not the predictable ZOMG 45-37 kind.

oh here's another crazy thought while we're at it: We really need Murray to fumble 4-5 more times and get hurt for 4-5 games, otherwise dude is straight up going to rake Jerry over the coals with salary demands. Of course Murray is going to (finally) go all 16 games without even chipping a nail, get 6.5m guaranteed from Jerry (if we're lucky?), and then go full Sean Lee on us next year and blow his ACL out in camp.

Man being a fan of this team feels like getting dumped in highschool, but highschool lasts your whole life.

I'm not that concerned with Murray. That's just not a position that makes sense to throw a lot of money at for several reasons. On average they tend to peak almost immediately out of college, have short careers, teams are paying less and less for them and drafting them lower.

He's definitely an asset and very arguably an elite back now, and if he's open to McCoy, Foster, Lynch, Foster money I guess it's okay enough (we'll ignore AP's ridiculous numbers because even Jerry wouldn't do that). Before getting into a bidding war I'd just as soon use it on a guard or RT and go in another direction with running back myself though. He'll fetch a 3rd round compensatory pick.

If they just threw a mid-round pick at the spot every other year that would be fine by me. Which they'd have more of if they stopped trying to get stupid with trades all the time.

I've seen a couple articles talking about re-signing him but, like always, hardly anybody seems to have even a basic clue as to what the going rate is. Especially ESPN. LOL ESPN, so so much.

Cowboys would be wise to sign Murray, who will be a free agent when the season ends, sooner rather than later to a solid if not outlandish deal. Think something in the $4 million per year range, maybe a little bit more.
On what planet is a healthy 27-year-old top 5 back going to sign for $4m/year? Especially one with decent receiving and passable blocking skills. And if he finishes this season like last year or better forget about it. I'd fistpump through my ****ing laptop if he took that kind of money.

What you are saying makes perfect sense, and also has nothing to do with what's ACTUALLY going to happen with Murray. Remember which team you're dealing with here. Big stadium to fill, tickets to sell, profits to be made.

You could help the team a lot more with $8m a year elsewhere

I think you and I are saying the same thing, and that's not the same thing as what they'll do.

Getting burned by MB3 might affect their decision. It shouldn't, but given how subject to Jerry's whim their personnel process appears to be, I'm sure it's still fresh in their minds. Maybe they're feeling that sting enough still to avoid making a big mistake here. Then again they're probably remembering Emmitt Smith and how long he held up too, and what it was like with some of his replacements over the years.

And none of that's a knock on Murray, just the position he plays. Hard to get second contracts to work out with halfbacks. He's worth the upper end of the HB scale and could justify it, but I'd bet against that.

On a scale of 1 to impossible, how likely is it that we could just trade Murray this year to a team that wants/needs to be pushed over the top to win (Denver, cough). Possible?

The problem isn't that we're going to lose 52-14. That would actually be nice, and make a lot of sense.

No the problem is we're going to lose late in the 4th quarter in some sort of weird game we could have somehow inexplicably won. That's why liking this team has become awful.
