Well, yeah, but you can't just pick and choose when to be emotionally invested and be a "sports fan." At that point, you'd just be my wife.

Yes you can! Like when people ask me "Did it suck when Ohio State beat Michigan in 2006?" And my response is always something like, "We were facing Troy Smith on the road, it was Lloyd Carr vs The Vest, I never expected to win."

That loss barely hurt at all--except for that brief moment in the 4th when I accidently did get emotionally invested, a point when Michigan had real equity, but then a weak character ref called a bs personal foul on Michigan to all but seal the game for the bad guys.

Well, agree to disagree. Even so. I never EXPECTED tOSU to beat UM in the 90s but it still sucked to lose every time.

Your self-awareness and lightheartedness tho are great posting traits...love your work during CFB season haha.

The 90's was such a brutal decade for you guys tho, no way not to feel lots of pain.

1990: You guys basically choke the game way failing to convert on a 4th and inches late in the game that would've sealed the victory.

1991: Desmond massacre.

1992: You tied us, and that was a nice thing since we were the better team but it's still a tie.

1993: You guys are big favorites, and the better team, and inexplicably lose 28-0.

1994: One of the few bright spots. Michigan is the better team and chokes the game away.

1995-97: You guys clearly had the better team in 95 and 96, and arguably had the better team in 97--Michigan was very banged up going into that epic Woodson game--and yet you came away 0-3 in that stretch. Brutal. Cooper man.

1998: Finally you have the better team and basically control the whole game and win.

1999-00: The Bellisari years. Both games were close and yet somehow never in doubt because, well, you guys had Bellisari at QB.

I hated the 90's cuz I was a teenager that never wanted to grow up as I realized early in the game that adult life sucked. Beating Ohio State at roughly the same frequency as Purdue was the only bright spot.

When you're dumb enough to sports bet like me, you have to learn to laugh at tragedy and never take anything too seriously! The most brutal Ohio State loss for me has to be 2002. Lost 14-9. Had a TD taken away due to offensive interference but the replay actually showed it was defensive interference. Wanted to beat that team of destiny so bad. Can't wait for this year's game. It's the first time since 2006 where I think Michigan has non-zero equity, probably around 30-40%. BTW I don't count 2011 in my mind. Such a cheap victory cuz of tattoo bs.

Anyways back to NBA, I'm not even close to a Lebron fan, but I'll always be a sucker for the underdog story. **** the so called "greatest team ever". Would love it if the Cavs somehow pull this out. Just get to the 4th quarter of game 7 down 4 and let variance happen one time.

IMO, this is going to be the biggest game 7 in NBA history. I have no clue who's gonna win anymore.

I don't know that I trust myself to be drinking in public for this game.

where's everyone watching?

I briefly considered going up to the Q (or at least being downtown) last night, also thought about my 'home' bar (where it'll literally only be people I've known since I was a kid) or maybe grabbing the HD projector from my school to project it huge on my garage wall and watching with a few people.

probably will end up watching by myself in my basement. seems like as I get older, that's how I want to digest big games...

so yeah, I dunno. what's everyone else doing?

ILP, ❤️ you obv.

that said, please don't give advice about not having expectations on sunday. cleveland fans are going to take it however it comes, like on one hand I know the cavs are playing really, really well right now, but on the other, it's at GS, the refs are gonna baby steph and most importantly, CLEVELAND. I still vividly remember crying (like, sobbing. for real) when the Indians were 2 outs away from the World Series and blew it. I remember being up 9 or whatever at halftime against Louisville in the NCAA hoop final...hell to a lesser extent, I remember pacing happily mumbling "they just have to punt and then sparty will finally have to shut the **** up" just this past year...I will NOT let myself believe.

I always say that, but I'm consciously going to temper any thoughts of winning until they win.

Yeah I hate being in public too for big games, but in this case: A. being a cursing, pacing freak will be accepted and B. I just have to be there when the party launches. I'm turning 31, I just got married...this may be my last chance to respond to CLE winning a title as I've always imagined I would.

As far as everyone else...everyone will be downtown...all my friends plan on it...everyone on the really big show is saying they have to be down there...so i'll be rolling down there real early.

I promise not to bet on Cavs to maximize their chances of winning it! I ain't betting on Warriors either, not with Lebron in godmode.

All I remember from that Indians game was that walk off hit that barely got over the infield. Brutal.

It's amazing how much impact that blocked punt had. It effectively ruined Michigan's season, and ruined the playoffs. When the best team in the game, Ohio State, doesn't get a chance to defend their title because of some fluke play, we all lose.

I was at Buffalo Wild Wings when Red Wings won it all and beer bottles were flying everywhere. So I'd advise against it but I'm a pussy.

I collapsed in my living room after that single. 12 years old. One of my life's saddest moments. Hurts so much at that age.

Yeah, I expect to be soaked and bloody. The upside is smoking weed in public should be fully acceptable given the mayhem.

12 years old really is the nut age for sports and movies.

Gonna be in Columbus visiting friends. I planned this when they were down 0-2 and a game 7 seemed impossible. Thinking about just driving home. I'm going to be a wreck win or lose.

I drove to downtown Cleveland Sunday from Niagara Falls. 100 person lines to all the bars at 7:45, 15 minutes before game time. Took a shot going to the casino and there was hardly a line. Watched the game from a corner casino TV with about 20-30 other fans.

Incredible experience. Nothing will ever compare. Greatest high ever!

Some video's I took:

Good luck to all the brave souls who are at the parade today.
