I think that this team is going to need every win it can get in order to compete for a wildcard. I think leaving Aceves was putting that win in jeopardy (which it did).

Im not using the pitch count but i think he threw ~90 through 5 innings which is alot for a reliever doing a spot start. I think threw around 79 or something on his last start. The pitch count itself doesnt bother me it was about how he looked. He struggled in the 5th. Victorino has great range in RF and that was why the final out in the 5th was a fly out and not a bases clearing double.

Im all for saving the bullpen arms but at what cost? Aceves looked done in the 5th and went out in the 6th and gave up a walk, b2b HR's and a double. He didnt get any outs so its not like sending him out shortened the game for the bullpen. All it did was put the Game in jeopardy.

As i said before I more that happy with Farrell so far and Im not calling for his job or anything but i dont know how you could watch that 5th inning and think it was a good idea to send him back out for the 6th. He didnt even have anyone warming in the Pen to relieve Aceves which forced him to continue pitching after giving up the 2nd HR.

They did this very long moving ceremony honoring all who had a part in weeks ordeal. then a the end the handed the mike to Ortiz for a few words as the team spokesman and he says that.

What a great story this Nava kid is.

Dont know what it is but i really want Nava to succeed. The dude seems like he is doing whatever he can to stay in the majors. Really happy for him hitting that HR after he got picked off the last inning that basically put the stop to a rally.
