Also don't forget that Schuerholtz is the one who did the Texiera trade..so he wasn't infallible either.
Costing any wins doesn't seem acceptable, and .5/1 win is worse than it sounds. Do you think it will be regained from other players being happier and playing better? It is a really fuzzy area, can't be proved one way or the other, but obv its possible.
I dunno, Yunel was improving even before the trade. I can't comprehend someone not trying to hit. Baserunning, yeah. Fielding, yeah, though he was still really good at it. The place it makes sense to me to accuse a batter of being lazy is in their approach, and Yunel was as patient as ever this season. I guess he could also be lazy in batting practice? That is pretty weak though. Maybe he took a "shot"? That is pretty much the only explanation I could buy that doesn't involve his injury and/or regression to the mean.
Schuerholz has an amazing 17 year track record, one knowingly risky trade and Dye for Tucker are nothing. Wren has already made as many questionable decisions, though obviously he is not working with the same payroll Schuerholz was and Schuerholz might be/probably is taking part in his decisions.
