yes i think its really stupid.

for instance - look at the WC standings on ESPN. It shows Braves and Cards with a dash, meaning in the current WC slots, and LAD a game back. At first it seems like the Braves are up only a game on the Dodgers. Just...dumb

Huddy dealing.

IDK about you guys, but with the resurgence of Minor and Medlen, a rotation once Beachy gets back (around ASB next year) of Hudson, Maholm, Minor, Medlen, Beachy looks pretty damn good.

What if Reed Johnson got the majority of playing time over Uggla for the rest of the season?

Washington is about to blow up and have the kind of September that the Braves had last year.
Braves win the Division, Washington loses wildcard on the last day of the season

go! go! go!

Would give anything to see this happen. ****storm that would occur considering they voluntarily shut down Strasburg would be epic.

hmmmm well if both players were guaranteed to continue their current production then yea that'd probably be a good idea. But Uggla's upside is just so ridic when he's hot, and he's still drawing a ton of walks...meh. I think we should just keep sending him out there. Maybe start sitting him more often if he keeps sucking but still give him the majority of starts imo

Concerning Uggla.

I guess Fredi G just made a statement saying how he will now be very selective when Uggla starts based on who the opposing starter pitcher is.

Uggla is such a donkey on defense. So painful to watch him play when he is not hitting.

I mean, there's just no way the Braves can keep him at 2B for the life of his contract. So, uh, then what?

yea sounds reasonable as long as it's Johnson taking his AB's and not Pastornicky or whoever.

Shockingly fangraphs has him as being an aight defender this season. lol sample size.

Man this would be a pretty sick defense if you replace Uggla with Prado..Johnson in LF..Simmons at SS..damn

If he hits they'll keep him there. If he doesn't hit i have no idea. He'll have no value whatsoever. I guess Wren would dump him to a team willing to take a chance and save a few mil..ala Lowe.

Next season looks pretty damn promising if we keep Bourne.

C-McCann
1B-Freeman
2B-Uggla
SS-Simmons
3B-Prado
RF-Heyward
CF-Bourne
LF-Johnson

SP-Hudson
SP-Maholm
SP-Medlen
SP-Minor
SP-Hanson
RP-Kimbrel
RP-Venters
RP-O'Flaherty

I like our starting pitchers a lot, the offense looks pretty strong, and the bullpen should be pretty damn good even if Venters never gets back to 2009-11 form.

And we get a great pitcher back around the trade deadline as Tdomeski mentioned.

It was a relief to take 2/3 from a good team. We don't play another winning team until mid-September so if we're going to catch the Nats now is the time to start.

Hopefully Sheets just needs a rest. Still not quite back in game shape, it will just take time to rebuild his stamina. I think if he's ok I'd much rather have him as a starter than Hanson.

Can't wait for Simmons to get back. Should be a boost to the offense. Keep Prado at second and bench Uggla though that will never happen with his contract. Where's that second half surge you're famous for Dan?

I mentioned that before the deadline that we needed to get a LFer for sure just in case Uggla continued to be awful so we had the flexibility to slide Prado over to 2B.

I'd continue to stick with Uggla for now. His upside is huge, and he still gets on base at a pretty decent clip.

I think Sheets to the DL was both to get him rest and to make sure all 6 starters were eligible for the postseason roster while having another relief pitcher up as well (making that roster spot eligible as well too).

Nats have to be a little worried about Gio and Zimmermann going forward this season as well. They are both racking up a lot of innings, and Zimmermann in particular has never pitched this many innings in a season. We've all seen young SP's not perform as well late into a season b/c of over usage.

I'm not predicting any kind of massive collapse, but I certainly don't expect them to continue to play up to this level if they lose Strasburg and Gio/Zimmermann regress a bit.

Should be interesting down the stretch. Caught a good break with Philly sweeping them.

Gio has been pretty awful down the stretch for his career, unfortunately I know this because I always have him in fantasy and he always ****s the bed in the playoffs for me.

lame game. didn't show up at all, lots of horrible at bats.

IDK why batista is on this team either. I thought we tried the crafty vet in the pen with Livan and it was a total fail. I can't stand when we bring in our worst reliever when we are down 2 runs. just gives us no shot.
