Simmons has looked way better offensively than I expected. In Spring Training he seemed to be overmatched a good bit. He's looked really good so far even against good pitching. He's already had 3-4 ABs that would have been Pastornicky's most impressive AB's all year in terms of solid contact against a good pitch or pitcher.

Dan Uggla has been fantastic offensively. Walk rate currently at a career high for a season. Hitting for plenty of power. Really nothing to complain about offensively. Might end up having a season similar to his 2010 year where he absolutely mashed.

Uggla has been the guy we were hoping he would be when we signed him. So good.

Simmons looks bigger than i expected...and better offensively. He totally looks like he can put up 10-15 HRs easy eventually

Would like to get a win tonight.

Man, our schedule is pretty damn tough through this interleague stretch. We need one of these other NL East teams to just fall out of it so we can actually figure out who to root for when they match up against each other.

Wat a terrible break. Wouldn't be surprised if Freeman's hand is injured too.

Joey Terdoslavich was demoted to AA after really struggling at AAA. And it looks like they moved him to 1B too. Was hoping he would be taking over for Chipper next season but that's not gonna happen.

No way we go with Francisco imo. So at this point i think it's probable we move Prado back to 3rd and find a LF somewhere. Hopefully Gattis continues to rape when he comes off the DL and takes the job coming out of spring training. I guess Constanza might be an option too but meh.

Nice win. Kimbrel couldn't throw the slider at all and the Marlins have owned him in the past so I was sweating a bit there in the 9th. Ho hum 1-2-3 inning, though. Man if we don't just absolutely suck for 8 straight games we'd have a pretty boss record. Let's keep it rollin'. A lot on the line for Minor tmrw so maybe he steps up. I remember last year when he faced them Stanton hit about 1,000 feet worth of HRs in his first 2 ABs of the game.

Joey T is just gonna be a not-quite-as-good-switch-hitting Eric Hinske from age 30 on (as in never an everyday starter). He and Pastornicky could be huge off the bench for us in the future, but would doubt they'd ever start.

I think Prado moves to 3B next year and we go out of the organization for a LFer. I think it'll be a pretty big splash too.

Assume we would not do this and resign Bourn? Who plays center?

I think we can do both, actually. I'm not talking about signing someone like Josh Hamilton to play LF, but I think we make a splash and acquire a top third player to play LF either via trade or FA (someone like Swisher).

I'm not sure what we will do with Bourn, but I think we will have the resources to do both of those things. I actually think we are much more likely to NOT resign Bourn and go internal for CF than resign Bourn and go internal for LF.

I'm kind of torn on Bourn as it is, not really sure I have any interest in resigning him for the kind of years/$ he will demand.

I think if we do resign Bourn and acquire a good LFer the writing's on the wall that we are very likely to let McCann walk after 2013 unless he takes a hometown discount (like Chipper did).

JJ being a lock to get non-tendered adds about $7-8m more to spend that I didn't think we would have had. We are going to have some money to spend this offseason even with arb raises to Prado, Hanson, Heyward.

Phillies are in a freefall right now. Would love to get them buried at the bottom of the division before they get completely healthy.

My order of who I fear the most:

Nats, Fish, Phillies/Mets. So I will root accordingly. Just have a hard time seeing Mets staying up there till Sept.

I have a hard time imagining McCann on another club. I think it comes down to having 2 outta 3 of McCann, Bourn, or a good LF. The most likely scenario at this point is probably passing on Bourn. Most of the big market teams have CF covered but you have to figure a few teams will come out of the woodwork and balloon the price. Boras doesn't help either.

I feel like Phillies might let Victorino walk and give Bourn a pile of cash. Wouldn't shock me. If Kemp continues to get leg injuries then the Dodgers may go after a CFer and slide Kemp over to LF or RF. Who knows.

It would be strange to see McCann on a different team.

Yeah I feel same as you.

I think the Phillies are gonna blow it up in a month to be honest. Trade Hamels and Victorino.
