That seemed like a really bad spot to pinch hit Tomas in. You aren't in need of a homerun, all you need is a bloop hit to take the lead. So not only are you likely getting a less effective batter in only his second major league at bat, you are also making a liability in the field (but I guess he needs to get practice in the field at some point, but maybe not after sitting on his butt for 4 hours).
