Gotta be a little disheartening for the Dbacks hitters to know they have to score 5-7 runs to even have a chance at winning.

Well they should know that going into a Cahill start 100%.

Ok pope, what's the over/under for Dbacks wins this year? Not a Vegas line....your opinion.

I was a lot more optimistic a week ago. Best case is everyone pitches well except Cahill and we basically give him up for free and bring up Bradley.

I think we are running pretty well below expectation and have played a lot of games against two good teams in the Giants & Dodgers. We will get to play the Mets eventually.

With our tough start, I would think a fair line is 79.5, and would be happy taking the over.

Before losing Corbin, and seeing how the first 10 games have gone, I would've thought 88ish. Now, I think I'm even lower than you at about 76.....and wouldn't like the over at all.

I know it's only a small sample size, but my God it's been ugly.

Heading to Chase Field for more Dbacks vs Dodgers. Hopefully we get a better showing tonight.

It really is amazing we don't have anything remotely close to a reliable starter right now......or reliever for that matter.

Should be 2-0!

Agreed. We'll just sweep the doubleheader today and head back to Chase Field with a little momentum.

Sounds good in theory anyway.

No bump for Daniel Hudson returning last night?

Here is a nice article from Yahoo Sports on it: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/inside-...132139001.html

One interesting thing from that article is that Daniel Hudson has been on the team 2nd longest behind Montero. He was third until Parra was traded earlier this season.

On that note, let's name the top 5 Diamondbacks in WAR while on the Dbacks (b-r). #6 on the list is Paul Goldschmidt with 15.5.

1)
2)
3)
4)
5)

I think #2 will surprise a lot of people (or the 2 people who read this thread)

I had given on posting ITT because it's usually just you and I anyway. But yeah, very cool to see Hudson out there last night. As far as the trivia, I'm at a loss. I only started following the Dbacks 2 years ago when I moved to AZ so I'm not very knowledgeable about their brief history. Hell, I didn't know who Daniel Hudson was till recently.

Ok Pope, now that KT and Gibby are gone, what kind of team should we expect next year? Major changes coming? I actually think with the young guys we have, if everyone stays healthy and we can pick up a #1 or #2 starter, we'll have a solid team.

I'm curious to see the opening day lineup. Who will be the odd man out in the OF? Inciarte I guess, but I'm sure he'll see a ton of playing time. I don't see any way they get rid of Trumbo, Pollock has locked up CF, and I think Peralta is a little above Inciarte.

Goldy is the only lock in the IF. I'm pretty sure Owings will be there, but could be SS or 2B. I love DiDi's defense, but his offense has been pretty bad overall. So maybe Owings at SS, Hill at 2B, and Lamb at 3B? Or is Lamb not ready and they go Hill at 3B, Didi at SS, Owings at 2B? Thats assuming Hill is still there. Either way I don't hate it I guess, but I do hope Lamb can be the everyday 3B.

Hopefully we can unload Ross and Cahill somehow. Heard Dave Stewart today said they want to add a top of the rotation type pitcher, but only through free agency as he doesn't want to deplete the farm system anymore so that's good.

I'll set the early O/U for wins at 84. What say you?

Inciarte is better than Peralta looking at advanced numbers. Hopefully Ross is gone, he has been someone I was never happy with since the second he signed.

My biggest complaint is since we all knew Trumbo was going back to the outfield next year, why wasn't he using this lost season to practice in games instead of playing DH & 1b since Goldschmidt went down? Just so Peralta can get at bats?

I admittedly know nothing about the advanced numbers so I'll take your word for it. But I don't dislike either one of them as a 3rd outfielder.

Ok pope, it's time to breathe some life into this thread. Have you been keeping up with the Dbacks this offseason and spring? I'm not expecting huge things this year, but I do believe they'll outperform expectations.

Still a lot of question marks in the rotation and with position players, but if they can find 5 starters to just be decent, I think a .500 season is possible.....assuming Goldy, Pollock, and company stay healthy.

I went to two spring training games and was very less than impressed with Tomas. He was good at misplaying balls at 3rd and hitting long pop-ups to right field.

And yes we probably have the worst #1 starter, but we probably also have the best #7 if that matters.

The thing my wife is the most worried about is catcher, she isn't a fan of 10 year career minor leaguer Tuffy.

I'm hoping Tomas starts the year in Reno. Too many other young guys to choose from to gift him a starting job. I'd be perfectly fine with an infield of Goldy, Hill(though I'd rather see him traded), Owings, and Lamb. Catcher is a tough spot for us for sure. But then again, it's not like Montero has put up big numbers recently.

What are you hearing for LF? I'm assuming Inciarte, with Peralta and Ross getting their fair share of ABs......more for Peralta than Ross hopefully.

Looking forward to April 6.

Cahill to Atlanta and we only have to pay about half his salary...AND we get a prospect in the deal. I love it. Do they need an overpaid 2nd baseman and extra outfielder too?
Arizona Diamondbacks: Out For (Ryan Braun's) Blood Quote
04-02-2015 , 10:35 PM
That is awesome!!!!! Best deal ever. Likely get a better pitcher (Bradley I assume) starting in his place and get something in return while cutting half the salary (since Bradley is like 1/10th the salary if not less than Cahill).
Arizona Diamondbacks: Out For (Ryan Braun's) Blood Quote
04-02-2015 , 10:47 PM
Exactly. Now, does Bradley start the season with the Dbacks, or do they keep him down long enough to get that extra year of team control?

If someone offers the same kind of deal for Ross or Hill, I hope they're gone as well......but now I'm just getting greedy.

I'd trade Ross in a heartbeat (before Cahill IMO). Not sure about Hill though. I guess Owings + Ahmed is better than Hill + Ahmed? Is Owings hurt?
