Pretty much a coin flip for the division. Like I keep saying - gonna be a fun summer!

If our starting pitching gets better...then I don't think its a coin flip...I think Royals are better. But if they cant...it will be a battle between our struggling starters and Detroits horrible bullpen. Definitely will come down to pitching.

Hard to say if the Twins' success is real or not. We were one of the highest scoring offenses in the league last year and we are again this year. The big difference is our starting rotation, which has gone from being the worst in the league by a wide margin to somewhere toward the top of the bottom third. Our team FIP is currently 10th worst in the majors, while our xFIP is dead last. Hence our staff is a solid candidate for regression.

That said, our biggest offseason signing has contributed nothing while suspended, and we have several prospects who have been performing well in the minors who will likely see the majors this year (Buxton & Hicks).

We are definitely still huge dogs to compete for the division, but at least we are making it interesting. I know it is only May, but I am very excited for this week's set against Detroit.

Ha ha right. Dane Iorg's "little looper" is the greatest sports fandom moment of my life. I spent the better part of my teens listening to Royals home games in my darkened bedroom on summer nights. I was at the game when we clinched the division in '85. I flew back to KC for the last Tigers' series and the WS last year - still regret not taking up my buddy's offer not to go to the WC game. I somehow finagled #5 in little league over a dozen other kids who wanted it. I've got a baseball from the K in '92-ish that was hit by Sam Horn in a double header with Balt. My Mom locked herself in the bedroom when Chris Chambliss hit the homer off of us in '76. She professed her love to George Brett when he hit the 3 run bomb of the Yankees in '80. I watched the pine tar craziness unfold in a mall on a bank of TVs for sale with a dozen or so other bewildered Royals fans. I remember the summer of '79 when Willie Wilson seemingly hit an inside the park homer every week. I remember the "Prague Spring" of 2003 when the Royals blew a 7.5 game lead, second only to the Red Sox blowing the lead to the Yanks in '78in the modern era.. I suffered through Ken Harvey hitting his teammate in the back, the trade of David Cone for Ed Hearn, Mark Davis, losing Beltran, Damon and Dye, Greinke's Hamlet-esque motivation struggles. I listened to Bo's "The Throw" on the radio because the game wasn't televised. I saw every other Bo highlight on TV, including the 3-homer game that the 30-for-30 didn't even cover but I was sure was going to be a 5-homer game if Bo didn't injure himself diving for a Deion Sanders liner that only he could have even gotten close to which turned into one of the craziest inside-the-park homers you will ever see - with Deion diving over and around Bob Boone like a crazed house cat.

And that's just off the top of my drunk rambling head. Should I go on?

This haha I been a fan all of my life as well and was at the AL Championship series in 1985. I also suffered through it all since then as we were the laughing stock of the league. It is nice we are back and a great team. I have been a fan all of my life and it would've took a lot SOBER to come up with that comprehensive of a list. So great job.

Soria was there, who is now at the Tigers and is horrible, but was great for us. Billy Butler was there, who is now with Oakland. Chris Getz, Jeff Francouer. That is just some that are not there any more...and for good reason. A lot of our team now was there in 2011. Moose, Hosmer, Salvy, Gordon, etc. Very young team then.

Yeah, he's all of .2 ERA worse than Detroit's #2 so far, sick burn. How does it feel to be in 2nd place?

He's been really scary wild his last two starts though. Can barely get his FB over for a strike, and nowhere close on his secondary pitches. Apparently he is overthrowing and flying open on release. Seems to be something of a head case. Everything about his body language just sucks right now. He looks about as comfortable and fluid out there as me trying to throw left-handed.

A lot of Royals fans have been wondering if Chris Young would replace Vargas or Guthrie. Could be Duffy if he can't get it together in the next couple starts. Someone on a message board was saying to move him to #4 starter. What good does that do? He'll need to go to Omaha if he can't get his brain straight.

I said move him to 4, because he is no better than a 4. Get rid of Guthrie and move Vargas to the 5. Volquez can be the 2 or 3, and fill in the other spot before trade deadline, or with someone we already have. I don't think he needs to go to Omaha. We have seen him when he is good, and I think he will come around to be honest, but he isnt and never was a 2 in my opinion. Ill tell you this though....I didn't think I would at all...but I sure miss Shields now. haha

He's ripping on our pitcher for it, so might as well lump in your #2 with him. Yeah, I highly doubt either will continue to pitch as bad as they have so far.
