What a night lol. Poised to be very high scoring, doesn't even remotely live up to expectations.

just a joke of a night

every single time I'm feeling really confident and up the amount of action I have it's always a distaster

cash lineup finished with 10 points

cashed 2 out of 26 lineups in the $2 Breakaway. 1 of those was made by my gf, turns out it was the highest lineup I had at 33.8. Go figure

Qualifiers are just cruel...fourth place on FD and it might as well be last. They're just such a longshot, but their mere presence tempts me to play because I will feel awful if I post a score that would have won it.

Pretty good chance this will be my highest finish in one.

Yeah Qs are a huge money suck for 99% of players. You can really tank your bankroll going after them.

The DK one looks like a great experience. But it depends on how much you value the whole "experience" aspect of it. Strictly on a financial basis it doesn't seem worth it.

But having that sweat combined with the opening weekend of March Madness sounds incredible to a guy like me.

I seem to recall the FD one being on a Saturday with an all day slate. Could be interesting because all the goalie news might not be out there by the time rosters lock.

Most of the satellite type contests seem like a rip off because you are getting double raked if you win.

Congrats man! This was definitely a "contrarian" day except for the Ducks and it looked like the Ducks were toast there for a while.

The guy who crushed FanDuel today went Ducks/Coyotes/Holtby which was pretty smart actually. It had some good things going for it:

A ton of people would be on the Columbus goalie because he was so cheap (and he was indeed heavily owned). By taking Arizona players, if the Coyotes go off, it will boost you up while simultaneously torpedoing a large percentage of the field.

You already have enough contrarianism with the Coyotes, so you can go blue chip with the Ducks and avoid the Canadiens, which a ton of people would be on (myself included in a lot of places). And it's with good reason, because Buffalo is just that bad. Still, Buffalo's opponent is generally over owned in my opinion...this is still hockey. My theory on this is that single lineup enterers or few lineup enterers will basically always have some Canadiens.

A goalie who was favored but not very buzzy.

Definitely a concern. They can overlay quite a bit sometimes though (especially on smaller sites).

I had the Columbus goalie . Just happened to hit on the right players on the Preds/Ducks to make up for it. Several of my other GPP lineups went down in flames with all the other big favorites today, but one lineup going really big more than made up for it .

That's often how it is. The tournaments are so top heavy that one good hit pays for a ton of misses.

I know you're lying if you say you felt good going into that third period of the Ducks game.

It can be a great feeling having that late night hammer and watching it come through, knowing you can't be caught.

Enjoy my money.

Picked the wrong night to not cash anything. Commence downswing. Somehow none of my Anders Lee got together with Corey Perry. Sigh.

Buffalo is really, really bad. As in they are the worst team in the league by a considerable margin. I agree that their opponents are probably overowned in GPPs, though, but going heavy against them in cash is perfectly acceptable on most nights. It's just a matter of how much exposure.

The Yotes were definitely a solid GPP play tonight for the reasons you mentioned. Also, last I checked those were still the Blue Jackets they were playing and their defense is awful. Unfortunately my Coyote stack got wasted with the Backes line.

There is one guy on FD who seems like he tries to cover every combination that could possibly go off. I'm going to guess that he fires at least 100 bullets into the breakaway per night and part of me thinks that might even be a conservative estimate. Every somewhat logical stack combination he seems to enter because I end up having several of the same lineups when I check at the end of the night.

I mean, I get why sites allow it but it's pretty annoying that people can do this. I have to go out of my way to make a strange lineup to avoid overlapping with him. If entries were limited to 10 or so people would have to actually commit to certain players instead of being able to take everybody. I'd be really curious to know how profitable that kind of approach actually is. I would guess significantly so, but then I guess that makes me a pussy for not trying it myself. Shrug.

Happy for you. I liked Preds/Ducks too, but had them on different lineups. Ugh. But this is why I was advocating a little different structure for the payout skeds with more on top and fewer in the money. Just looking out for you. Hope you made a decent haul. Congrats!

My guess is you are talking about chickenhawk. He sure finishes high a lot (obviously not the same as profitability). I have seen him intentionally take min priced goalies not playing that day, presumably to get the stacks he wants. That doesn't seem like a good idea to me, but maybe he is a mad genius. At any rate, he's getting money from somewhere based on the number of entries.

IK, for someone who prints money you seem scared. I offered $300 on Nutshot when you were up 4-0, after you spouted off about NHL'15 I offered to play for cash as well. You turned down both of these, for a self proclaimed crusher you sure seem shook.
