Wife-You don't even need that INT Dalton has no points!
Me- I need all the help I can get. I'm in the middle of a 3 game losing streak.
Wife- I don't know why you always go after RB when you need WR and you know they score more points!
Me- LOL you're giving out FF advice now?
Wife - Well who's 8-1 and who's 6-3 in both his leagues? Just saying.
Me- Jesus Christ.

As a Bengals fan I was well aware. We've looked like **** all year for the most part. Every now and again they trick us into thinking they're good. Defense is pretty banged up.

Ive changed my mind.
In a league where Im a lock for the playoffs I currently own Miami, and am also putting in claims on Detroit, Buffalo, and New England (will only get one of them, dropping same player in each case), so that I can play matchups and have a great D play every week from here on out.
Thoughts?
Shhh. I educated my league, now defenses are bid on like regular non studs. Of course you play to your format and check match ups, but if you're trying to maximize EV at every other position, why not defense

I have 3 defenses in a few leagues right now..... I'm a lock for the playoffs and my starters are set in stone (barring injury) but at this point for me it's well worth it to stash my playoff defenses and use them when I can until then.

Been carrying two myself this year for the first time. Drafted SF and picked up DET. Lions have been carrying me but I'm counting on 49ers getting their band of hoodlems back in time for the playoffs

I'm not a fan of carrying 2 all year because your bench is much more important with bye weeks and injuries. At this point in the year you know what's going on with your team and there is less variance with injuries to fade before the playoffs. I'd never carry 2 d's (unless I had one that was just WAY better than the rest) until week 8+. People also drop even the best D's all the time with bad match ups so you can usually get them back later.

I definitely wouldn't be stashing the 49ers lol.

This.

Now that we've gotten past the vast majority of bye weeks, keeping an extra defense that has even one great match-up is more valuable then your rb5/wr6/te2 that is barely above WW material. I have Buffalo/Detroit combined wherever I can because it's a pretty nice schedule from here on out.

w10 - Det v Mia
w11 - Buf @ Mia (Mia not a great matchup, but not an awful one
w12 - Buf @ NYJ
w13 - Buf v Cle/Det v Chi (probably the meh-est week since Cle will have Gordon back)
w14 - Det v TB
w15 - Det v Min
w16 - Buf @ Oak

Dat playoff schedule.

If you don't think NaVorro Bowman and Aldon Smith are gonna make the difference for that D/ST you might not have watched football for the last couple of years...

I think NE @ NYJ is better than Buf @ Oak slightly, but Buf has a much better schedule overall. NE still have Ind, Det and GB.

SF goes @Oak, @Sea and vSD w14-16. The Oakland matchup is nice but it would be easy to find better matchups for w15/w16

ya i felt smart snagging them a week early to face the jags. then i held them for this game as thurs games have supported home defenses well. it esp made sense as the browns off is not a juggernaut and the bungles were supposedly a strong d. in retrospect, infuriatingly, is that the browns defense was the play. naturally, my main points opponent had the wherewithal to employ them. just, damn. my standard scoring team of charles/knile, foster, lynch, jordy, olsen, gost is about 80 pts down still vs a guy starting ellington, ivory, hilton, julius, luck.

after the poor jag performance, it should have been clear they were a very risky play, tho i am a sucker for home teams for night games and this week, given the bye situation, the options were slim. i had planned to start the ravens and held them concurrently but at the last minute dropped them for charles sims, figuring he had the upside. if only i had the foresight to drop them for west. or just hold them so they can facerape mettzer.

picking defenses matters.

Caught the commissioner of the league making changes to the waiver priority order. But in the yahoo "Commish Updates" section it just says "Waiver Priority changed from 'old order' to 'new order'" Is there a way to see what the old order was before he changed it?

The Bengals run defense is the worst right now (injuries) and the Browns have a nice O line and the desire to run(just not with 1 back lol Browns). The Bengals D has been living off of their pre-injury hype. They were* a very good D, not so much anymore, though the entire team usually* plays very well at home. I got stuck with them and thought they'd be better than Det VS a hot Mia, silly me
