I suppose a tiny bit. Would leave us without a reliable 7th/8th inning guy (though Delabar seemed to be emerging before today). A trade really seems likely at this point, either KRod or Papelbon. Both play into the Jays' two-year window before Bautista and Encarnacion are gone.

So this trade just happened:

Bro Harper
Kris Bryant
Mat Latos

for

Michael Brantley
Yoenis Cespedes
Maikel Franco
Kyle Schwarber

Franco and Schwarber are the only keeper-eligible players in the deal. The trade deadline for keeper-eligible players is this week, which can be the only reason for this madness. The guy selling Bro et al is in 9/10, the guy getting them is in 5th.

As the current 1st place team I can't say I'm pleased to see such a lopsided deal.

I'm not a OMG VETO! kind of guy, but damn I guess I need to see what's left on the other guy's team to see if he can be that dumb twice.

I think Schwarber and Franco being the only keeper eligible players makes this trade acceptable. The guy is in 9th, what is he's supposed to do, just sit on his thumbs? At least he is trying. Trades like this suck when you're not a part of them but are just part of keeper leagues in my opinion.

^ +1 especially if there's a trade deadline. The 9th place team has to get the best he can, and if that's all that was offered to him you can't be mad

Yep. No veto. You should have been asking about Bro.

I would agree with this order but Kluber would be firmly first and the other two almost interchangeable.

rank some speculative potential closers:

hoover, will smith, hudson (seems like reed is done), giles

Of the 4 who are likeliest to get the job:

1. Giles
2. Hoover

Would be the best option but for whatever reason has little to no chance of getting the job:

3. Harris

Diamondbacks are idiots:

4. Hudson

Thanks to everyone who commented on my Desmond for Jones trade. I don't have a top 1B and am mindlessly shuffling lately. For this week, which two am I starting in my 1B and CI spots?

Moreland
Duda
Lind
Paulsen

Scoring is standard roto with SLG% and XBH added. I'm currently starting Moreland/Duda.

Also, start Espinosa over LeMahieu at MI? Currently have Rendon as my 2B, so I can't start both.

Eventually Giles is #1, but if the Phils were going to trade him before the deadline, I feel they would have pulled the trigger by now. So I think Giles is another 3-4 week wait. Hoover may be sooner.

Speculating on lefties scare me. Neal Cotts is the only other lefty in the Brewers pen. And he sucks. That could hold Will Smith back or have him in a platoon. Diamondbacks will ride out Ziegler.

Only feel good about Giles. Hoover could be sooner, but also not at all. Smith would probably perform the best, which stinks.

Roberto Osuna was unavailable Sunday after pitching in the first two games of the series. Who will get the next opportunity remains to be seen, but it would likely be between Osuna and Delabar. Delabar has a 21.1% K%-BB% on the year and he’s sporting a stellar 1.06 ERA. That’s been aided by an unsustainable .097 BABIP and 100% LOB rate. His 3.61 FIP is not so sharp. Osuna has a similar K%-BB% at 20.6%. He has a 2.26 FIP, and if I had to guess who would be getting the role, and I do, I’m going with Osuna. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Delabar and you couldn’t be faulted if you grabbed him, but I’m going with Osuna. Cecil is still listed as the closer on the closer grid and will continue to be until John Gibbons sends someone else out there in that role. It could be Monday in Tampa.

Keep in mind Osuna is 20 and only had 40-some innnings post-TJ coming into the year. After some reading today ,think there's a slightly better chance than I previously stated that he gets a few saves, but still think the trade is coming. Also worth noting that Cecil went over a month between save opportunities. so. many. blowouts.

these guys are all really close for me.
I have Archer = Kluber and both slightly ahead of deGrom.
Archer and Kluber both inside the top 10, with degrom around #15 for me.
They both have SwStr near 14% and K rates 3-5 points better than deGrom.

Sucks to not get in on either of Harper/Bryant but trade seems pretty reasonable in a keeper league. not sure how your keeper rules are set up but Id have to imagine that Schwarber is hugely valuable to any rebuilding team.
Ive said it before, but Im inclined to think that next spring Scwarber will be just as highly regarded in the fantasy world as Bryant was this spring.

Need opinions on a pretty monster trade offer.
12t auction keeper, use MI/CI, $300 draft budget.
We count SLG and OBP along with R/RBI/HR/SB
Keeper prices listed, although Im focused much more on winning this year than potential keepers.

I send:
Encarnacion $38
Price $30
Dickerson $31

I get:
Stanton $65
Panik $4

Ive been crushing pitching in this 9 start/week max league (Scherzer, Price, Richards, Kazmir, Carrasco, Wood, Garcia, Haren with both Fernandez and Matz on the way).
MI has been my biggest weakness. Starting some combo of 3 of Y.Escobar, A.Escobar, Rosario, Holt, and Travis going forward.

Don't love the trade in a vaccuum, but your abundance of SP in a league that limits it makes Price really expendable. Think Edwin wil find his stride eventually, and you're trading high for Stanton (granting there's no trading low), so you might be able to get a little more, but it may just be one of those deals that helps your team despite "losing" it.

Thats the thing. I would definitely be giving up the most value. No question there. but I can only play so many guys.

Dickerson I consider a sunk cost. Im in first place and been without him for the whole year, and im looking at like I wont get him back this season.

Without considering how much it would help the other team, I feel like i have to view it as gaining
Stanton, Fernandez, Panik, Matz

losing
Encarnacion, Price

I know there's good reason for it historically but Colby Rasmus is really flying under the radar

Since moving to the 5 spot he's been ****ing killlllling it. 25 games, 7 homers, 17 runs, 19 rbi, .283 avg/.350 obp

The lineup ahead of him is strong, the lineup begind him can bomb it, and rasmus has always had offensive talent

Food for thought

The thing is, he has month long stretches like this every single season, and inevitably they are followed by complete futility.
Sure, ride him while hes hot if you can get him for free of the wire, but dont give up anything for him, and dont trade anybody on your team with the expectation that Rasmus is going to replace that production long term.
