$100 2QB League 14 teams. There was a big misunderstanding where I didn't think the league was happening, and my team got autodrafted. I need someone who I can invite as co-owner, and I will let them run the team this year with zero interference. Here is the team:

Obviously I have no QB. However, for a 14 team league the roster is stacked at WR/RB. If you can swing a trade for 2 low-end QB I believe the roster is very capable.

This was the major gripe I had with the commissioner. I played in the league last year, and the league got auto-renewed 3 days before the season. When I joined back up, there were only 6 teams in including myself and I posted on the league message board "I'm in, but what are the deets". I never received a response, and the commissioner did not reach out to me in any way before the draft, other than the league invite. Now, I've never played in a league with complete strangers who did not try to contact me for payment at the very least prior to the draft.

Long story short, draft comes and goes, I don't show up, and I get an email the next day with draft results. It's a 2QB league, so the autodraft is always bad in those leagues and Ryan Fitzpatrick is only QB on my roster. I post on league message board that I never consented to play/pay and I'm sorry but they'd have to let me know what they want to do with my team cause I'm not paying for it. Commish bitches me out, calling me a thief/scumbag/scammer. I felt like I had some valid points but instead he said I was 100% liable and refused to admit any fault, specifically for handling the league very poorly and lack of communication. He then started threatening me with making a website calling me out for being the things he accused me of blah blah blah. Of course this guy is a well respected member of the poker community as it turns out, so I didnt expect anyone to side with me inside the league.

I really don't know what's wrong/right here, but at this point there's no turning back.

His entire argument was since I joined, I am liable. Every other point I would bring up, he'd ignore it and just repeat himself. He told me (as if I would know) that "he does everything last minute and I should know that". He also let me know that I was the only person in the league he didn't know personally and that's why he didn't collect payment or gem the need to put out any kind of message to the league owners. I would love to post our entire conversation, but he deleted all the messages.

He did post that he was in. Was the draft time posted before he posted that?

at the end of the day, it's always the commish's job to collect all the money. and anything that isnt collecting unfortunately has to be eaten by the commish. its happened to me before, and ive had to eat the money.

I am in this league, not commissioner. The conversations are not deleted, perhaps you do not have access to them because you have been kicked out of the league for not paying the funds. I am skeptical of that because you did post on the league message board this morning.

Relevant facts:

1.) This league is continued from last year. It ran smoothly last year and the commissioner sent out an invite to all members. OP accepted the invite and signed up for the league.

2.) After signing up the OP made a thread on the league page titled: "league" with the body "I'm in, but what are the deets". There were only 6 people signed up this point and it went ignored or unseen. I didn't see it until the day of the draft and I assumed, like everyone else, that it simply meant when is the draft, what is the scoring...etc... all of which was clearly displayed in the scoring & settings section.

3.) Commissioner doesn't immediately collect money before sending out the invite. He knows everyone (minus OP) personally and knows that we would never sign up and screw him over, or try to freeroll. Everybody has paid in the league. OP is the only person that commissioner does not know. Last year OP joined the league and paid up front and was given the renewal link.

4.) Draft goes by and OP doesn't show up. Every other person in the league, all who had precisely the same information and who agreed to play and pay showed up without a problem.

5.) OP posts a thread in the league the day after the draft titled "draft/league".

I even went on p5's to check if there was a thread for this league u had posted in and there wasnt one. its a ****ty situation on both sides but i really did think this wasnt happening. my team actually isnt even that bad (except for not having a qb) but at this point i dont even have the money to play. I recommend auctioning off my players or something. 2 QB leagues that have an autodrafted team are always ****ty for obvious reasons, so I'm obv not dumping $100. If it were a regular league I wouldn't mind just playing for ****s and giggles.

I asked for details 3 days ago, not 2, and you didn't respond. No correspondence ever went out from the commish to me. When I asked for details there were only 6 teams in with 3 days until season. If you are going to do a $100 league with 3 days notice, you should at the very least make a post on the league message board that the league is in fact going to happen. You could've simply reopened the league on accident, or to gauge interest in returning players. You never even posted how to get money to you. ZERO information was posted.

You can try to pin this on me if you'd like, but the very fact that you let me (auto)draft without having paid is on you as the commissioner. There's a difference between you getting my word that I will pay and letting me draft and just letting it happen with no confirmation.I want to do what is right, but I have no idea how you can put me 100% in the wrong here. I've done so many fantasy leagues over the years that I've lost count, and no one has ever had an issue.

I've offered trades to 3 different owners trying to get fair value for a QB they selected in the 10th/11th rounds just so I can blow this over and just pay and play. However, those offers get rejected and people want Terrelle Pryor for Marshawn and Schaub for Julio - accepting these offers would be extremely unfair to the other owners in the league and I refuse to do so. I'm sorry this situation occured but it isn't entirely my fault, and I'd argue not my fault at all. There are more messages but this is getting long. They basically consist of the OP wanting the commissioner to accept blame, the commissioner refusing and saying that he will publicly call OP out as a scammer. A few players from the league come in and say either 'everyone else signed up, paid, and had no problem' or it was a somewhat confusing but they kept coming back to the league page everyday and there were more and more players and it was filled by draft day and went off without a problem'.

The OP then posts that he would like to sell his team, that he doesn't want to pay and play himself, yet he continues to make moves and makes a trade with me all the while saying he won't play unless he can sell.

After a back and forth between OP, commissioner, and league that appears to go no where the commissioner decides to restrict the OP's team, reverse all his transactions, and continue the league with 13 teams where in each team will get a win the week they play the OP.

99% on the commisioner. If he knows EVERYBODY else except this one guy, then ****ing make sure that the one guy knows whats going on.

With all that said, me personally I would just play the league (and pay ofc) as I feel I should of checked the league out during those 2-3 days and 100 bucks isnt worth screwing the league up for 13 other people.

But the commisioner is responsible imo.

I'm sorry, but if you think you got screwed in principle then you should not do anything with your team if you have no intention of paying the league fee. You cannot pursue trade offers, or accept them.


If you did not think the league was going off, and you genuinely think you are not responsible for the money - you lose all of that the minute you make your first transaction because you have decided to play your team. You now are basically saying that you will try to freeroll the league, which you did. You tried to make trades that would give you a competitive team. If you could not get a team that you thought would win you wouldn't pay, but if you could you would. That is really shady.
