If you need a bat, that's a fantastic deal for you.

this is a great read about Bench Heat
Really good article, thanks.

I also forgot to mention that this is a keeper league and this guy took Haniger in the 19th round, so if he keeps it up he has great keeper value as well. Considered countering with Porcello instead of Morton but pulled the trigger as-is.

Ryu out until at least all-star break, completely tore groin muscle off the bone

In a YPL where someone accidentally dropped Donaldson today meaning to activate him from DL. He posted about it, someone else said they won't use their waiver on him so he can get him back. Would you put a waiver claim on him, or let the team (potentially) get him back? (Current 3B is Candelario with Rendon on DL if that matters)

I would hope Yahoo steps in and fixes it.
Im assuming the guy was using the app? I've had 4 instances already in one league that I commish where I had to manually add back a player because an owner has dropped the wrong player by mistake - every time it with the app.
Does the app not ask you to verify the transaction before dropping or what?

Anyway, the owner has no reason to believe that the entire league will read his comment or even have any idea when/why Donaldson was dropped. So I'd probably submit the claim assuming that other teams will too, and just hope that Yahoo steps in. If I landed him, and Yahoo ignores the issue, I'd consider sending him back to the original owner (if I used a high waiver priority on him and there was a way to get that back.)

Walker Buehler confirmed a part of the regular rotation going forward. If he's still somehow available in your league grab him asap. Worth a huge bid if you use FAAB, (although i assume hes long long gone in any league set up that way.)
Might be the most talented arm in the minors that will get extended MLB action this year.

I think a very important thing to note is that I would not go after him as hard in QS leagues. He has never gone more then 5 IP in minor leagues, and this worries me a LOT. Very hesitant to go hard after him because of that

That's true, he's worth less in QS leagues or leagues with a limited number of starts per week.

Bautista called up by Braves, hitting 5th. Should be starting almost every day at 3B, could be an interesting guy

How do you guys feel about Bundy?
Were his first 5 starts just a fluke? Or are his last 2 starts just bad luck? He's sporting an incredible 15.6% SwStr rate to back up his 10.6 K/9, but he's also allowing more than a hit per inning. So tons of K's, yet imminently hittable. I usually have a decent read on most pitchers, but in Bundy's case I'm lost. What's going on here?

I was offered Bundy for Kingery in a keeper league where I could really use another solid SP, but I have no idea if he's any better than guys at the end of my rotation like Skaggs and ERodiguez

Alright, did some looking, and let's just look at some defensive stats for Baltimore:

https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.as...rs=0&sort=23,d

Their top defenders using UZR and estimating it out for 150 games (full season basically):
Gentry (who barely plays), then Schoop and Beckham who are on the DL. We then have Peterson, who played 15 games at 2B last year, Machado who hasn't played SS since 2016, and Alvarez who hasn't played 3B since 2016.

I know very little about defensive stats, but just looking at the team, and how they're struggling to fill in guys at DL'ed positions as well as age in general, makes it feel to me like the problem might be from a god awful defense.

Good point about the D.
I hadn't even considered that. Is their defense going to get any better though?
And what do you make of his spike in K% - real or small sample fluke?

Brutal. Hope it's not worse than they're saying it is. Speaking of which, I was SHOCKED to see that deGrom went on the DL instead of making his next start.

In the meantime my team is 2-24 with an .083 OBP today.

Gotta love it when my batters do the best they've done all season, would win 6/6 hitting categories vs every person in the league except the one guy I'm playing. Going to lose a matchup 2-10 that I would have scored 8-4 or better vs anyone else in my league.

About to pull the trigger on dealing away Trevor Bauer for Khris Davis straight up

6x6 adding OPS and K/9

I have tons of great pitching (Verlander Scherzer Porcello Hendricks Godley plus some young guys who are doing well) so as much as I like Bauer, I can manage without him.

Seem fair for both sides?

I think it's at least possible and given my team's anemic hitting I picked him up. In a limited sample size he's walking a lot more and BABIP doesn't seem out of whack.

Is there a consensus for when walk rate normalizes? Denard Span is walking 16% of the time compared to 8.7% career avg over 115 PA this season. His batted ball profile looks much better this year as well. He's also 34. Thoughts?

Yeah I was looking at him last week as well. I opted for Soler instead, but there's a lot to like. I was not happy when the cards gave him away for basically nothing. He's basically Schwarber lite. Garbage D, but if he's in the lineup his bat plays.

The biggest problem for Adams will be PT right?

yeah, he's actually gotten 8 starts in LF too filling in for eaton, who should be back next week. and zimmerman might be back this week too, although has been hitting terribly. but even if he somehow gets the bulk of starts vs. righties, should be solid.

i actually had bids on adams and soler. won adams by a bit and got super outbid by soler, who id be happy getting too, might finally be coming into his own

This article (https://www.fangraphs.com/library/pr...s/sample-size/) says 120 PA for what its worth.

He's definitely changed his approach per the numbers - chase rate on pitches out of the zone down from 26% to 19% (he is also making less contact on those pitches which is not necessarily a bad thing). Its odd as he has somehow chipped in 24 RBI despite walking all the time

Guy to keep an eye on who is crushing in small sample: Alen Hanson
Called up due to Panik injury, was hitting .403, with 3 HR, 6 SB, 8 BB/7 K in 62 AAA AB's this year. He's more of a speed guy in minors, but seems to have found some pop this year (he's hit more HR btwn AAA/Majors this year than all of last year). He led off for Giants when Blanco was out of lineup, and with Blanco struggling in the past week, if Hanson keeps up he could take over top of the lineup.
Panik will be out for at least another month, so if he keeps it up could stay on roster, and has played all over throughout his career (SS, 2B, 3B, CF)
