They're pretty notoriously anti-pitching. Here's the list:

(Villar went 18th)

Am I reading that right, and only 2 actually people participated in this "mock"?
If thats the case then LOL, completely meaningless.

It's two opinion makers trying to give initial context to 2017 rankings. Obviously deviates in terms of reflecting on how things will actually go; people will change teams, leagues, get injured etc, but the exercise has its use. Calling it completely meaningless is shortsighted.

Sorry, my post came off a lot more *******ish than I intended.
Wasn't meant as a knock on you.

With only 2 ppl participating though they shouldn't even call it a mock imo. Its really more of a composite ranking of just those 2 specific guys.
Which does have its use obv, but really won't flow anything like a draft with 12 different minds.

Man I'm so unsure of what yo make of Villar.
I think I pretty much feel the same way about him as I did about Dee Gordon (ie zero confidence in him whatsoever) coming into this year, but it feels kind of wrong.

Think biggest difference between Dee and villar is the power. Probably won't be drafting villar for his ADP next year tho cause I don't trust him to hit 300 with 20 bombs again. A 85/10/50/60/270 line is pretty reasonable imo which still has a ton of value

Thoughts on that mock:
1. Arenado behind Donaldson Bryant and Rizzo is flat out indefensible. Bryant is the only one a case can really be made for and that case is still wrong

2. Marte in the first can't happen anymore. Not just cuz of his injury, not just cuz he's now moved up in the lineup, but also cuz too many people have caught up for that to be an option

3. 13. Seager makes no sense. I have no interest in touching him til the 3rd. SS isn't a barren position anymore

4. 15. Cabrera? Lol. He's a first rounder til the day he isn't. Easily taking him over Marte for example

5. 16. Turner. He's not gonna be there at 16 and if he is I take that all day. I take him over machado Seager Marte and probably Blackmon. I don't buy his average for a second but even putting that aside he can definitely be a 20/60 player. His potential is why we were making the case for Marte as a first rounder and why these guys have Marte 9 because Marte is supposed to be that good. But he isn't gonna hit 20 homers. Turner and villar are probably the only 2 ppl who have this upside, both are undervalued in this mock

18. Villar. Take everything I said about Turner, add a far better walk rate and positional versatility. The problem is his true value is pretty bad considering his numbers and he may not stay the full season on a rebuilding team

19. Freeman. This mock was made at the tail end of a 30 game hitting streak. Recency bias

20. Votto. Absolutely too low. He belongs anywhere between 8-10 spots better than where he is now

31. Cano. 100/30/100/.300 and 31st pick. Jlaw.gif

30. Dozier is terrible for any number of reasons but start with the fact that the next 5 people drafted belong ahead of him

I was often getting Miggy late 1st/early 2nd this year, and think it happens again next year. People get scared from age, and 1B is so ridiculously deep (I try to be unbiased since I'm a Tigers fan too, but got him in so many leagues because of this this year)

WTF are we doing with Harper next year?

Have one keeper league where I can only keep 1 first rounder, and its either Harper or Miggy

harper's had shoulder problems almost all season and still has a 90/90/25/25 162 game pace

i mean the more i think about it the more if he's healthy he should go right in the cluster at the top, and if he's healthy i would never consider keeping cabrera over him
