14 team auction 2 qb league (actually with an OP slot that most teams use for 2nd qb)

Keep Bradford for 8
Or
Mathews for 11?

Standard scoring non ppr

Jay - Overall your team should be a contender but I think it could have been better.

Forte > AP in PPR
Feel like you have to take Marshall at 17 in PPR
Gronk there is fine if you're ok with the gamble
Edleman/Kendall/Woodhead all nice value

i'd keep mafews, seems like good value for a solid RB2 and would think you could get bradford for a comparable amount

Thnx, that op slot gives premium prices to qbs so I think he goes for at least 13, but Mathews should be mid20s at least so I agree

i love that team. I think DeMarco at 17 in a ppr is pretty damn nice too especially if you are getting Jordy at 24 and Keenan at 44!

also depends if you start 2 or 3 WR

Took 49ers in the 13th, probably a leak, but I figured even if it is too early its not that early and I usually just stream d's all season so I don't mind having a steady elite D in one of my leagues.

Draft is PPR
10 teamers just look so easy. i think you killed the first 5 picks. gronk is huge value this yr. ppl are just way overreacting to his injury situation.

murray or marshall is close. depends on starter requirements but would usually prefer murray.

id go joique over sankey for sure tho. sankey is still running with the 2s. theres a lot of risk there whereas joique is a proven producer and his coordinator has confirmed they are going to run the saints type of offense. lombardi was there since 07 and they targeted the rbs 189, 163, 137, 155, 234, 196, 204. hes a great bet to catch 60 balls and get the goal line work.

you got tremendous value with woodhead and wright.

i am not a fan of edelman at all. in fact, i woulda snapped wright or woody there haha. but there are just a lot of mouths to feed in new england. edelman benefited greatly from the losses of amendola, gronk, vereen. dobson and thompson also both missed 4 games and were rookies.

tate, watkins, pierre, olsen. lots of other options there. with your team being solid already, i proly woulda grabbed olsen to insure against a gronk injury.

really good team tho.

Does anyone do private mock drafts? Can't seem to find this option, hard to believe no site offers this yet

I'm doing an auction for the first time in football, and would like some thoughts on my overall strategy and preparation. This is my first year in the league. The league did an auction last year but before that did draft. The league is about an even mix of decently thinking players and marks that don't know they're the marks.

I do not have access to the results of last year's auction, but I have learned that the highest paid player last year was Peterson at $92 and a couple other running backs went in the 70s.

League: 10 team full PPR live auction. $300 salary cap.
Roster: QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, RB/WR/TE, RB/WR/TE 8 man bench.

I used Elbobertos spreadsheet to compile projected dollar values customized to our rosters and point settings, and will do a final version the day before the draft.

Positional thoughts and budget:

QB - WAIT! I'm totally fine getting a 8-12th ranked QB for very little as I think there's a lot of value per dollar there. Budget $5-10

RB - Get a top 4 stud. Then get another top 20 guy. Figuring $75 for RB1 and around $50 for RB2.

WR - Get a top 10 guy and a top 20. Figuring $60 for WR1 and around $45 for WR2

Flexes - Looking for solid RBs or WRs that go around $20ish each

TE - Cheap. $1-5 UNLESS Graham is undervalued due to people not understanding positional advantage and scarcity. My spreadsheet I compiled has Jimmy valued at $65. This is the one situation in which I'm contemplating actually nominating a player I want in the first round, because whether or not I have Graham will affect the makeup of the rest of my strategy. Good idea?

D/ST $1
K $1
Bench: Whatever's left. Not paying for depth. Want more of a stars/scrubs strat.

Theoretical example rosters (based on the spreadsheet values I made). Don't read it as "I'm taking this player no matter what" but more as "I expect the players to go for around this or so"

QB Cutler/Brady/Ryan 8
RB1 McCoy/Charles/Peterson/Forte 76
RB2 Murray/Ball/Lacy 54
WR1 Green/Marshall/Jones 60
WR2 Cobb/Nelson 43
Flex1 Kendall Wright etc. 21
Flex2 Rashad Jennings etc. 20
TE Ertz/Gates/Clay/Bennett 3
K/D/Bench 15

Appreciate all thoughts. Thanks guys.

If you can get 10 or 12 together, just do a yahoo private league, IMO.

Abandon it after the draft.

I would do a private mock if you want to set one up.

Quadstriker, not a bad plan, but a few small things. Ertz will cost more than 3, and gates is undraftable, IMO. I also think your WR1 will be more than 60 in a $300 league. Those guys are around 50 in a $200 draft, so around 75 in yours.

lol wtf really? thats insanity. cameron is gonna get like 160 targets this yr. they got no one else to throw to. he legit might catch 120 balls.

@Wheatsauce,

What's your reasoning for Julius over brees?

had my one live auction draft thats a keeper league tonight. i feel like everything went wrong. team still looks pretty good but thats because we had very strong keepers.

12 team std scoring 2rb/2wr/flex/te

Rodgers ($46)
Lynch ($29 keeper), Gore ($24)
Alshon ($8 keeper), VJax ($35)
Gerhart ($10 keeper)
Rudolph ($10)
Haushka ($1)
Chiefs ($1)

Ladarius Green ($4), Turbin ($2), Benjamin ($10), Golden Tate ($7), James White ($4), Polk ($1),Justin Hunter ($10)

I know bench is weak, but starters look pretty strong. Every guy we targeted people went nuts on them. Kinda panicked on Rodgers when we kept getting outbid on the studs.

thoughts?

prob because its a 10 team league and the difference between brees and the other QBs is a lot smaller than the difference between Julius and the other TEs

Nailed it. I'm a big fan of getting one of the top tier TE's this year because they are so far ahead of the pack, and while there are certainly a good amount of breakout candidates at TE, I think it will be much harder to accurately pick which ones hit since they all have far less of a proven track record than the equivalent QB's and if they miss they are more likely to miss hard than the equivalent QB's. Plus in a 10 teamer QB is so deep that you'll never end up too screwed even if your original starter does bomb.

If it was a 3wr league I'd be tempted to keep Cobb, but given its a flex and you already have Mega, I think Julius is the clear play.

All that being said I don't think it's terrible or anything to go Brees instead, it's certainly nice to just be able to set and forget QB all year and know you'll be top 3 at the position, so if you feel strongly about it, or are meh on Julius for whatever reason, then it's fine to go with Breesy imo.

Yahoo mock from 5/10

1. Matt Forte (Chi - RB)
2. Montee Ball (Den - RB)
3. Alshon Jeffery (Chi - WR)
4. Vincent Jackson (TB - WR)
5. DeSean Jackson (Was - WR)
6. Michael Floyd (Ari - WR)
7. Chris Johnson (NYJ - RB)
8. Jordan Reed (Was - TE)
9. Nick Foles (Phi - QB) - Over Cam. Probably bad
10. Josh Gordon (Cle - WR)
11. Zach Ertz (Phi - TE)
12. Devonta Freeman (Atl - RB) - Sniped on Hyde
13. Jordan Matthews (Phi - WR)
14. Nick Novak (SD - K) - Lost Connection. lolkickers
15. Philadelphia (Phi - DEF)

I like it. Last year RB-WR-WR-WR was a default but when I've done them from the 1-5 spots, you usually have another solid RB fall into your lap in round 2.

Has anybody else been having issues with Yahoo's draft lately? The last few I've tried I've had connection probablys every now and then. Forced me to auto-pick a couple of late rounders in previous mocks.

it's hard to judge given that it's a keeper league, the differing dynamics with a group of players off the board and varying needs/cash available complicate matters. first thought was that rodgers is a lot, but with a rb1/2 and a wr1 locked up cheaply it should be ok. that seems a bit too much for gore as well but again, could be inflated values and hard to know what's available. similar with rudolph, but i don't know what's left to spend cash on at that stage. seems awfully expensive for hunter as well - more than golden tate? same as benjamin? really?

can't really complain with ball there (although i probably take someone else dependent on who's available), but in yahoo with their bad RB rankings i would find it very hard to take rb back to back when there's usually an abundance of decent rb2's available in rounds 5-6. see: you getting cj2ypc in the 7th. that said, your wr's are a lot better than i'd typically expect. probably take a second qb over matthews, you've got your one swing for the fences option already in gordon and i don't see how he'd penetrate your starting lineup ever. should still be a dalton or similar on the board if foles/cam got to the 9th which can add value.

def go lacy calvin ball and brees. with the no draft penalty, i would assume all of the stud qbs are kept. unless you can snag brees with your top pick, then hes a no brainer.

who do you anticipate available at your first round pick? id be pretty sure julius thomas is there in the 2nd round even.

do you have fbg draft dominator? you can enter in the keepers and all that and it will spit out the best vbd pick. i may do it later but i would be willing to bet if you remove all the top qbs, it will have brees very high on the draft list.
