I'm probably making the deal simply because you kinda never know what you're gonna get with a guy coming off injury...

But with that said, going into this season there was no reason to believe Morse wasn't going to have a great year. Dude can rake.

do u really believe haren is a top 10 pitcher for the remainder of the season? i don't think he's even top 20

Verlander, Cain, Hamels, Weaver, Kershaw, Price, CC, Darvish, Greinke, Lee.

There's 10 I'm definitely putting ahead of him.

haren was anywhere from about 9-15 in SP preranks this season. if you claim he wasn't a borderline top 10 SP to start the year, you're just wrong. i definitely would consider him top 20 going forward, probably not top 15 now with the emergence/resurgence of a few others

1.5 seasons of sample from age 29+ is not a good track record. it just isn't.

edit: i'm not even saying morse can't hit or be productive. i'm just all for cashing in on what value he holds when he's coming off injury

add to that off the top of my head strasburg, gonzalez, beachy, wilson, peavy, bumgarner, i'd argue sale

Thanks for all the feedback, surprised it got so much interest.

I did accept the Morse/Haren deal - I think it was very even, but made sense for my team since I was already at the top in HR/RBIs.

If you can get top dollar, it's an absolute no brainer trade.

i love having sale and mcdonald always pitching on the same day for me. 15ish innings of 2 era, 1 whip, and 18 Ks every 5 days is nice.

what about Felix? Santana? Even Morrow, McDonald, and Anibal...
at this point there are a ton of guys I'd prefer rest of season over Haren. You could easily make a case that hes not even top 20 from here out.

forgot entirely about felix. i'm wholly convinced that no-hitter will ruin santana's season

rank the following catchers: arcenbia, saltamachia, ellis. my 0.02 would be 1. ellis 2. salty 3. arcenbia but i'd like confirmation

Nava has a decent minor league track record (career .414 obp) and has been on fire lately, so why not ride it out?

You made a LOOK AT ME post. I looked, didn't see anything too notable, and simply said so. No offense intended.

My team is pretty balanced, and I was already first in homers without Morse, so thinking this is a no-brainer.
This seems like a really fair deal to me, and if it fits the needs then it's more than fine imo. It's not like we don't have any data on Morse before last year. Assuming the 2011 babip and hr/fb normalize a bit, and he still strikes out with a similar frequency...you still probably have a .270 hitter who will OPS around .850.

Not really sure what (if anything) is different about Bailey this year...his k-rate is down and bb rate increased ever so slightly, but that's probably negligible. Certainly can't argue with recent results.
